I'm lucky enough to have tickets to NAMM for the first time this year. So excited! Will only be there on Saturday unfortunately, but TAG is the first place I'm headed. Can't wait to see the new stuff. Didn't see TAG listed on the NAMM show map, but I know I'll find you. My DT HTC needs a mate. I'm praying for maybe a Hollow ATOM CT

IT really is shocking.

Some guesses...

1) Arch top, hollow body Atom, with carved chocolate maple top + f holes?

2) Painted headstock on clear maple necks to match body now a n/c option?

3) Crowdster 12 string?

Hmmm what other rumors can we start ? ;)

Relics...he will give in someday and do it>but whatever the new items, we do know they will be first quality. I still think they should let the public in at NAMM

I don't mind letting the cat out of the bag here. It's going to be totally awesome.

It's the Corey Witt (guitarzan) Signature Model and it has 6 onboard compressors built in (one for each string... duh). There is an option to add a master compressor to the output circuitry but that involves a little extra body routing. It will come with all of the standard ordering options, except for the fact that you can ONLY get it with a +.050 neck shape and tortoise pickguard and the additional circuitry requires that the player wears a special Ghostbuster-style battery-filled backpack. Right now the model name is the "TACWGZ-Squishcaster6000". I'll be doing demos throughout the weekend in the NAMM booth, Hall E, but most people won't hear it.

Luckily, I got to go in 07 and 08. the TAG booth was one of the coolest, most laid back spots to hang. Even as a tourist, Tom, Roy and Rachel made me feel welcome. Lots of great players to hear, not just at TAG, but everywhere. You are in for a guitar/amp geeks treat.
If these events are happening, check them out
Deke Dickersons GuitarGeek Fest at the hotel out in front of the convention ctr.
Fender Custom Shops fundraiser at Loffler's Tavern. Straight up the road north about 3 miles from the show on Saturday night.

New model? I'm guessing something hollow

Need photos from you guys who can go. I can't go to NAMM. I can't afford the travel, don't work for a retailer, and can't take the time away this time of year.

But I need photos of whatever is "shocking".

Bigsby option?

Love the headstock , I can only imagine what it plays like.

Standard three-way toggle or are there hidden switching goodies?

Inquiring minds want to know. Details please, I probably won't get to the show until tomorrow.

unless an inquiring mind already asked and will post the answers here from NAMM!

As I am not a guy who would ever look to buy a les paul I will leave the fine points to others.

I don't think I ever picked up a solid Les Paul that was this light. The fit, finish, and playability are exactly what we love about Tom's guitars. So many thoughtful details. Pickup bezels are recessed flush with the carve top. Bridge recessed (like Atom CT) as is the stop tailpiece (not sure Atom CT is).

Visually stunning. Standard 3 way toggle. push/pull on the 2 vol. pots switch series/parallel for each pickup (I believe). Locking Klusons

Other Anderson wonders - Chocolate Maple is soooooooo cool. IMHO, has to be experienced in person to appreciate the yummy factor. Seeing that familiar grain pattern in a dark shade is very cool. Short T is a marvel (dang-it I already have an HTC, I want one of these too).

today was fun but i'm already loosing my voice. super busy for a thursday. the bulldog has been very favorably received so that was a load off. nearly everyone who picked it up asked if it was hollow. it's not, both weigh 7.75 lbs and were not made with the lightest mahogany in the shop.
i think bud got most of the details, if you have questions go ahead and ask.
the rosewood topped shorty with the chocolate neck is awesome.

Hi Tom, You likely wont see this email until tonite and I can ask you this in a couple of hours at the show but just had to take advantage of the FREE Wi Fi on Virgin America :p

The "bulldog" name is catchy! How did it come about? Is this name that it will be sold as or is it a pilot/prototype/ in house name?

Any relation to the bulldog mascot of your Mini ? :)

See you soon!

I gotta say the bulldog looked and played like a dream (of course). It was quite a surprise to pick up a "Les Paul" as it were only to discover it was as light as a feather and bore the hallmark Anderson fit and finish that is light years ahead of the LPs I have owned. I can't wait to hear it thru an amp.

I love it.

I personally like the three on a side on this style guitar.

My $.02:
-The headstock design is elegant and functional. Notice the sting pull is straight and not angled like a lot of three on a side guitars?
-A solid body under 8.0? My LP and PRS Singlecut push over 9.0! That is why I only use them to record!

Yeah, this is the guitar I have been waiting for from Anderson.

I am sure some won't like it. But that is true of everything.

Bravo Tom. NICELY DONE!

Curse you, Tom Anderson!!! Just when I'd sworn off buying any new guitars........:D

I'll echo Dano's comments; the headstock is all business. Beautifully designed with a straight string pull.......pure functionality.

Hey.........remember, when the first Model T's were heckled with "Get a horse!" Eventually, we all caught on!! ;)

Well done, Tom.

let's see...
most of you know i am a dog person but the name came more from toughness and aggressive attitude associated with a the term bulldog than the animal itself. it's an aggressive fat beast so it seems to fit.
one of the things we heard over and over about the ct was that it needed a 3 on a side headstock. i heard that loud and clear, but it needed to be different from most of what i've seen to satisfy my functionality. gotta have straighter string pull and a some less tension on the nut for tuning stability. second, i hate to see broken headstocks so if there's not a functional need for the tilt, than why do it and make a weaker area?
i've said this before, but if you think a les paul is perfect, then that's what you should play. but i think people who have come to like our guitars expect a few more creature comforts and those are here in this guitar.
play what you love, love what you play.

Tom, does this mean that the atom Ct will be phased out (since the bulldog addresses the CT concerns?) or will they peacefully coexist in the Anderson empire?

tom
01-16-2010, 09:53 AM
there is no reason we can't keep maiking them, but based on public opinion my guess is that we won't make many of them. we have had a couple people ask at the show if they could still get one so they may eventually find a place in the world. i'm still playing mine as the 4 knob deal gets in the way for me.

chriswhite
01-16-2010, 03:49 PM
I love my CT, while I think the new headstock looks great I still favor the old one. I am just so used to the Atom looking the way it does that I have grown so accustomed to it.

Cosmetically I imagine you would sell more even tho it doesnt sound any different than the CT it looks more like an LP and thats what people will want. An LP that plays like an Anderson... SOLD

ah yes, the kill switch. i did enough at the shop one day to satisfy me for a few years:D
jj from twisted sister came by today, danny weis came by and thoroughly entertained me with impossible to play chords. pete anderson came by, michael britt came by, many other wonderful players and some not so wonderful but very nice people came by.i am always amazed at how many anderson players come by just to say how much they appreciate what we do. that never gets old.
acoustic super builder kevin ryan and his son came buy to spec out future guitars, always a treat to talk with other builders. john s came by and we commiserated about some of the obstacles to building and some of the fun stuff.
our couches are always popular.
same spot but we have noisier neighbors:(
