I was lucky enough to receive a free 20' Elixir cable from Elixir. I responded to an email from them and their only request was for me to tell others what I think of it so here goes.
I'll start by saying that I never put a lot of stock in some of the claims out there about cables impacting tone. Quality construction was always more important to me, I hate it when a cable goes bad at the plug. I have to say this cable does sound good. I really don't know how to describe it, it just sounds better. The quality is also top notch. I especially like the nicely contoured, graspable plug ends.
Thumbs up from me and I have no reservations in recommending these cables, but I'm sure Tom's recommendation carries a little more weight. :D
Give them a try, I think you'll like them.

I have 2 12-footers that are the in and out of my pedalboard. Love them
ultra quiet, and easy to grasp! +++1:D

I have four of them. In an earlier thread, Tom described them as kind of like "taking a blanket off the amp." They are great.

I got a free cable too! I took out a subscription to guitarist magazine and was supposed to get a free danelectro distortion pedal but they were out of stock so I got a free ten foot cable! I know which deal I preferred! I was so impressed with the cable I bought another for the pedal board to amp.

I couldn't agree more with everything said so far. Pretty much right after I received the free cable with an Anderson guitar last year, I went and replaced all my cables with Elixirs and absolutely love them! Great cables and well worth the money.

I'm certainly glad you guys are enjoying your Elixir cables!
I guess I'll have to be the odd man out. I got a free 10', but could hear no real difference from my quality cables. I wound up selling it to a forum member. Maybe he'll let us know what he thinks about it.
Keep in mind, the cables I currently use are built by me using quality cable and jacks.
Elixir strings though are another story...those I LOVE!!!!!!!!!!!! :)

still enjoying my mogami and george l's. if they're as good or better than mogami and are cheaper I might consider them in the future.

After watching the demo Tom did on youtube comparing the Elixer to another brands cable I'm considering purchasing one. In the demo Tom did (link below) the other cable sounds kind of "choked" I guess is the best way I can describe it. Like the guitars true tone is being held back. With the Elixer it seems to flow out of the amp.

i'm also not a fan of that kind of packaging for anything, way too much of it these days. too much plastic. we're on a mission to save the planet for our grandson.

+1 Tom.
And why is it that everything you buy at Costco is packaged that way too? So secure that you need tin snips to open it once you get it home. OK, and while we're at it, since Christmas just passed. What is it with toys that are twist-tied and zip-tied into their boxes?
my wife keeps threatening to write to costco about their packaging, it's criminal. we won't buy some things there because of the packaging.

Actually Tom, you hit the nail on the head. The heavy duty packaging is to deter shoplifting.

has anybody actually managed to get the kinks out of the cable once out of the packaging?

I have four that all seem fine.
the ones i have were not in the normal packaging so i have not experienced the kink. i do have 5 new ones for a head switcher rig i am putting together at the shop. they are all packaged so i'll see how they go.

The kinks disappeared after a couple of weeks on my Elixir cables.
I know what you mean though... given the thickness of these cables one thinks these kinks will never go away. But rest assured.... they will. :)
