Jeff,

Hi Tom,

I'm curious now, what other amps do you use?

tom

i regularly use a fulton webb 17 or a /13 jrt9/15. either one into a bogner cube. i had been using a mod50 for quite a while, probably my longest run with one amp. i was always on the verge of being too loud with it and finally caved in and went to lower power amp, still using an attenuator on it's smallest cut level.

Jeff, You will LOVE your T Classic. My ice blue T has been through so much and it still remains my go to guitar.

Can't wait to hear your comments after you receive the guitar.

Jeff, congrats on the "T" for sure! I love my Hollow T Classic!

Tom, let us know what you think of the Bambino when you've had some quality time with it live. Not that I'm remotely interested in amp shopping again...

i'm never looking for an amp, they just appear and can not be resisted.

My Suhr/CAA PT50 killed my amp gas. Whew!

Will the Atom kill my guitar gas? Hmmmm.....maybe with a bigsby:D

I've been in a similar situation as yours...longest time with the same amp for live use! Incredible.

But, then it starts real subtle like...you mention it here. I've never heard of one but go look it up. Check the specs, price, listen to the demos, start circling the baited hook, etc. :(

Like a bad cold, I'm hoping I can fight this one off...

..actually, the reason I posted this thread was the slight chance that Tom would tell me my guitar would be ready two weeks early. Can't blame a guy for trying....

BTW....I'm taking a shot with the tortoise pickguard on the Tiger Burst. Anybody out there got something similiar?

Thanks

looks like it should get built in 2-3 weeks. next week is namm guitars, then namm. so it's in the next week of guitars after namm is taken care of.

If you like that Fulton Webb you should try the Suhr Badger 18 with power scaling. Put that through greenbacks (Scumback M75 is amazing) and you are done. The power scaling works extremely well for low volume situations. I bet you know someone who could hook you up.

john did send me one to try. it broke up too soon for me, or maybe i should say it was on the edgy side for me at the time.

Try the Badger 30! Later break up and scaling works just as well.

too loud for church. i live in the just breaking up place and the fulton webb is so nice there. different amps just break up differently, not better or worse, well some are worse, but different. hoping the bambino will thrive there too.

Someday you'll try a Maz 18. Maybe at NAMM?

tom
12-30-2009, 10:50 PM
that is the one amp i always want to try but one never surfaces at the right time. don't think they go to namm.

i played my maz 38 next to my buddy's 18 and his seemed to have more power than mine. it was definitely louder with all the settings the same.. the only difference is that I have a London Power Scaler built in but it was off. makes me think that the power scaler is always holding back a little.

Tom, I've been to your church, its been a while, but you need to try this amp, i bet it would work very well for you. I'll let you borrow mine when I get it fixed. just let me know

PRS Sweet 16 played thru a 2x12 or your choice.

Be there or be square. LOL

Seriously......it's a great little amp.

Love my Maz Jr NR 2x10...........but, it's been neglected terribly since I got the Sweet 16, and an Original Sewell head (louder, but TO DIE FOR tone).

I had a Sewell Texapkex at one time. Sheesh, that thing was LOUD. I played it on a huge stage with huge sound and it still felt like I had the amp strapped to my skull. Loud. Loud. Loud. I couldn't enjoy the amp. It was like playing a machine that intentionally hurt the audience with volume.

Not the case with either the Sweet 16, nor the Original Sewell, both of which I play in my family room, so far without any divorce proceedings!! :)

Cheers!!

I played my LSS next to a Maz 38 I traded for and the LSS won out. So I sold the Maz to a friend. Nothing bad to say about the Maz, but the LSS had it beat (to my ears) in tone, clean, dirty, vesatility and features. I know TAG used an LSS at NAMM awhile back.

I got a Fargen Epic this summer in a TGP swap and would compare it to a very aggressive Maz Sr. Nice simple amp with a 15/30 watt switch and Ben's decade switch.
We are very lucky to play at a time with so much great gear out there.
