I'm hoping to get some advice on my latest quest.

I'm in the market for a phaser, and have settled in on the MXR Phase 90 1974 Reissue. I can have it modded for TB, or leave it stock and pick up a looper. Also, my tuner is the Korg DT-7, and I'd like to try gettng that out of my signal chain, so I'm thinking a looper w/ tuner out.

Here's my question, would you go with the TB modded phaser or go the looper route? It's not that much more money, but the looper will require some real estate on the board. I guess I could budget for a strobostomp2 tuner for true bypass.

Any other thoughts to get the tuner out of my chain:

'69>DT-7>Phaser>CMATMODS Brownie>Timmy>Choralflange>Nova Delay>Digitech Hardwire RV-7 verb

thank you,

geo

the turbo tuner is tb, smaller and faster!
but i do like loopers, keep the path clean and makes trouble shooting easy.

Is that the ST-200 model. Can Buzz Feiten tuning be programmed into it? Is the programming difficult?

The size is nicer and priced better than the strobostomp. Plus, at that price point, I could go w/ a TB modded Phase 90 and tuner for the price of the phaser and looper w/ tuner out. A little more $, but not that much.

Thanks

Go with the Turbo Tuner ST 200. It is more accurate and built like a tank. More details in this thread:

Also, I'd get a looper. What happens is you scrunch all your other pedals on the board, so the net increase in real estate need is insignificant. Note the pic below is an older shot. That board has a TT on it now. The looper I have was custom made for me. It actually is a kind of patch bay, allowing me to go mono in to the front of the amp, tuner mute out, and mono or stereo out from the delay/chorus. I can hook you up with the builder if you need.

tom peck from www.pedalboards.com makes some really nice loopers. tom is absolutely right, in my opinion the make this neater and in my case, i can't remember the last time i stepped on a pedal directly. it gives me a sense of semi-automation (keeping all the stomping isolated to one location) and preserves the life my pedals.

Tom Peck does make some great stuff. He was swamped when I was doing my looper, and since I really did not want to wait I found someome who did the same thing essentially. The thing I like about mine is I have two stereo loops, with two ins and outs each.

But the nice thing about Tom's stuff is he has found a way to make things small. His loopers are REALLY narrow and take very little space.

Mention Suriel when you "call"

@emil, that sounds like one of those commercials, "put promo code "suriel" at checkout for your discount."

@dan, hope you're back stateside, i'm not! tom peck does some pretty nifty stuff and built like a tank, but yours looks like it's built like a tank too. tom has made my switching needs on stage so much better.

thanks for the info. As far as a looper that large, I'm not quite ready for that, but I'll keep the info handy. I was contemplating a much smaller looper for one non-TB phase pedal. I will look at the ST-200. The price will make the addition of a phaser and a TB tuner much easier on the wallet.

The other links to programming the BF offsets in the tuner look pretty easy. Is it that simple, or am I missing something? This would be new ground for me.
