Hi guys,

I'm interested in adding a guitar with minihumbuckers to my collection. I'm thinking of either getting a PRS Soapbar and adding some Gibson Minis to it, or getting a Tom Anderson loaded with the M pickups. I've looked around a little, but haven't been able to find any soundclips of the Anderson Ms. The Anderson website says they sound big and bold, like Stevie Ray Vaughan without using huge strings and tuning down. If that's the case, sign me up! Anyway, if you've played these, please tell me your impressions. Also, if you know of any soundclips, I'd really appreciate a link.

Thanks,
Brad

I just got a new Cobra that I had fitted with an H3 in the bridge and M1's in the middle and neck. I think that the SRV comparison is pretty good. For me, I play hard rock, I say they are a sweeter, thicker Dimarzio HS3. Very close to a single coil sound, yet not as thick sounding as a regular humbucker. In fact, I don't think I'll own another Anderson without an M in the neck. That pickup is AMAZING. I don't have any clips of it to share. HOWEVER, if you want to hear it, perhaps we can arrange a phone conversation and I can play it for you over the phone. In my opinion, the M is an amazing pickup.

David Barber tested some m's and posted the results a while back. I'm not sure the M1- still exists.

I have a HTC with a TM2 in the bridge and it is probably my favorite pickup of all time. Fat but articulate and covers the bases from clean to crunch to singing overdriven solo tones.

I have a DTC with M's. M1-M1-M2 and Kickback. Love it. Nice fat single coil sound with the Kickback engaged (which is still in humbucking mode so no noise) and a good humbucker sound with it off.

I'm not very good at describing pick up tones but I have Strats, Teles and PRS' that rarely get used anymore since I bought this one a couple years ago.

I can't tell you how happy I was to read this, Jimmy. I have a Shorty on order, and after careful and lengthly discourse with Roy, we decided on putting a M1 in the neck.
