The back of the neck on my beautiful drop top is getting sticky when things get hot on stage.
What type of lacquer is used and how thick is it ?

I'd like to matt it down to how it was when it was new, any suggestions please ?

It's stayed in the case for the past few gigs because of this. :(

I might suggest using some steel wool to remove the shine. You don't want to take off too much finish as it is fairly thin. Use #0000 (super-fine).

Be aware that the steel wool will shed so cover the pickups completely with blue painters tape so the wool remnants won't cling and get inside of the pickups etc.

my only warning on steel wool is that because it is fine, it will shine up faster making you have to repeat the process sooner.

just go light, gentle pressure is all it takes.
