Hi Jumbo SS Frets owners !
Are you happy with them ?
It must be a great feeling , jumbo stanlies steel on TAG neck .
I have YJM strat with etremely scaloped freetboard and Jumbo frets , but nickel ones .
Problem with YJM strat is once you get used on Jumbo frets and scalloped neck , every "normal" guitar looks like you play over glass -no feel- looks like no grip !
I don't think I 'll ever have a guitar without Jumbo frets .
What about you ?
Thanks ,
Zoran

I have Malmsteen and I know exactly what you're talking about. I guess heavy = jumbo in TAG speak? All my Anderson/Suhr guitars have jumbo frets but its not the same thing as the Malmsteen. I rarely play the YJM (its the 60s version) but its got a unique tone compared to the rest of my guitars.

What would be killer is a Andy Classic with Blackmore-style scallops. That could be a gamechanger for me.

heavy does not = jumbo. jumbos are taller, wider and rounder than heavies. many moons ago i was into scalloped necks with small frets. i personally like to feel some wood under my fingertips but i get why some people like jumbos.

I like tiny frets anymore, but some of my guitars have rather big ones.

I honestly can get by with either...

I started playing on jumbos back in 1984 with a Charvel Holdsworth model. It also had an extremely large radius fretboard. Both of these factors really facilitate a legato technique. I have a guitar that I scalloped years ago and I'm not wild about the way it feels. For me, jumbos work way better than scalloping. I like to bounce off the wood a bit I guess. I've got two Anderson's now with jumbo stainless frets - awesome.

What I like about having different fret sized guitars is that it gives me different options to play depending upon what I want to play musically and how my hand feels that day. If I am going to try to impersonate YJM et al. then I am pulling out my TAG with jumbos. If I am going for a 60s rock vibe, then it is going to be my TAG with smaller sized frets.

I'm with you on this one. Have jumbo's on the Drop Top and they feel great.
