Never owned a 24.75" mahogany body/neck strat before, this is pretty interesting. Compared to my Les Pauls, it has the same sweetness, but it doesn't get TOO mushy - it's compressed, but doesn't lose clarity.

My big beef with all set neck or neck though guitars is that they tend to be mushy - no snap to the notes, at least in my opinion. I've owned several Les Pauls, Jackson soloists, some custom shop ESP neck throughs, PRS, etc - all had that trait to some degree.

With the Cobra S, I'm getting some compression - a sweetness on the top end, but a nice snap to the attack that I always associated with bolt ons. I'm not sure if I'll be using this for heavy rhythms, but for leads it should be pretty nice. I bet my bogner Ecstasy plays real nice with it. Has a beautiful quilt maple top, and the fingerboard is rosewood, but has some sweet grain to it.

Only bad thing is - the guy replaced the stock anderson bridge with an anderson/fishman piezo, and I'm trying to figure out how to wire it up. Looks like I'll just need a powerchip, So I am considering it. Guy I bought the guitar from said he thought the fishman bridge resonated better than the stocker.

I'll have to compare them at the gig, but this could kill one of my Les Pauls, which would be sold and converted into another Anderson :D

some of the compression comes from the hollowness. most think they have a softer attack.
normally the piezo signal is on the ring of a stereo jack. it you ever want to mix the two signals, that has to be done actively. if you can find a fishman powerblend pedal, it's the easiest way to do whatever you want with the two signals and does not require a battery in the guitar.
the fishman bridge has some extra zing on the top end. not to be confused with the schzinyness of the HF and HC pickups. whether the extra zing is a good thing is subjective(like all things tonal). i personally prefer the fullness of the ferraglides.

Tom, are you saying that most users believe the cobra hollow bodies do have a softer attack or that people wrongly guess that they would have. I thought the latter but was unclear. Still trying to decide if I want a Cobra or a Ct Atom.

I think it has a little more snap than my Les Pauls do, or my semihollow PRS. Notes on this guitar just kinda 'bloom' after the attack, which I dig. It's very fun to solo on, and playing clean is nicer too in my opinion.

It's not the first guitar I'd reach for if I was going to be doing tight metal percussive rhythms with my dual recto, but it has it's own thing going which I really like.

DON'T change anything about the guitar. If you run the acoustic through a separate chain with a stereo cable (you can get a great one from lava cables), you can really put it to use in a big way... with NO battery to run out. (which is SWEET!)

PM me if you have any questions or want some of the "voice of experience", I run stereo guitars exclusively.

oscar, i believe that our hollow guitars have a softer attack, call it compression if you like. our solid guitars definitely have a faster harder attack. i'm not debating whether one is better or worse, just confirming that i believe they are different.
