View Full Version : Bridge Humbuckers

My Atom currently has M1/M1/HO2 pickups, but I'm finding the humbucker to be a bit too nasally/mid-rangy for me in the bridge position, so I'm thinking about replacing it. I'm playing in my church's praise band, so my guitar needs to cover a wide range of styles from light jazz to R&B to rock, but mostly at the classic rock/CCM end of the spectrum. Whichever humbucker I get needs to produce a good tele-like tone in the kicked-back neck/bridge position and passable stat impression in the kicked-back mid/bridge position (the HO2 does just fine in this regard).

From the descriptions on the web-site, it sounds like I want an H-series pickup. Does anyone have a suggestion as to which bridge humbucker goes best with the M1's?

Thanks,
Steve

if you don't need it to be quite as hot, and would like some extra sweetness on top, the HF1+A(for atom). would be a great choice.

Could that be referred to as shzinginess?

I know it's sometimes hard to compare different models but how would people compare these two pickups with everything else being equal - IE guitar, woods, etc.?

It sounds to me the HF2 to be a bit more open, maybe a bit more midrange, a touch less output. The biggest thing I think I notice is a smoother roll off with the volume pot?

Thoughts?

Thanks, Rob

I offered and then went through one setback after another this Spring. I just finished my last set of travel gigs that are booked until September so I may resurrect the idea again. Either that or I'd be very happy to pass the Illustrator files on to anyone who has greater interest in the sooner than the later.
