for all of you who've received your complementary Elixir cable...how long did it take to receive?
I submitted 2 cards, 2 weeks ago. I realize that Elixir's in MD, but I'm wondering if I need to contact them to follow up.
they have been using our online datebase search to verify serial numbers. the site got hacked last week, and we still do not have the database up and running,

It took a long time for the cable to arrive, but it's well worth the long wait!!! I meanwhile upgraded all my cables to Elixir. Simply love 'em!!!! Thanks Tom!

thnx tom. I'll call Denise back in MD. I requested, and she was nice enough to accomodate, a 20' rather than a 10' due to my 2 coupons.

FWIW I use these cables exclusively from guitar to board and board to amp. Made a HUGE difference.
I use George L on my boards.

I contacted Gore to determine the status. Apparently the cable was delivered to my home door but I never saw it. Regardless, they shipped out another cable immediately and I received it in a matter of days.
Goes to show you that sometimes you just need to call instead of waiting for an inordinate period of time.
I've tested the cables against many other high end cables and the Elixir are the clearest. Less coloration than any other cable. Now if they can only make some short cables.....
that is an ongoing discussion.

FYI, I received my 20' yesterday. WOW. Amazing tone. I just returned from practice, and was playing through my other gtr player's AC30 CC2X (alnico golds). OMG - it was like angels were singing...bell-like chime for days. Hollow DT T-classic (contours) with TF p/ups. AMAZING!!! The elixir cable definitely allows a lot of wood tone through.
Now I am unsure as to whether it's the hollow T, the TF's or the chord. But I will say that a HTC w/ TF's and an AC30 CC2X are in my future (as well as the Elixir cable!)
when i plugged in my new turbo tuner the other day i added an old 20' cable that was laying around after the tuner and was shocked at the sound. replaced it with the elixir cable and all was well again. i know adding 20' of anything will be a change, but this was scary bad.

I was thinking the same...at 20' how much of a signal impact could there really be? Someone in the room's using Spectraflex Fatsoflex, Evidence Audio (Lyric and Sirens), Monster, Mogami and George L's (my rig's got all of these in one point or another...mainly mogami's btwn pedals and Spectraflex as instrument and EFX loop). So there really shouldn't be that much of a sonic change.
but even at 20' the difference of using the Elixir was/is obvious. IMHO, the Elixir's really mate well with the TAG p/up's - really clear and transparent, especially on the cleans. My tonally-challenged bandmates have remarked that they 'prefer' the coloration (darkness) that the Evidence cables bring. My response, 'too bad, deal with it- Mikey's NOT going back!':D :p

In another thread Tom put it best, "was like taking a blanket off the amp."

I was suprised with how good the Elixer cable is. I compared it to my main cables, Zaolla, when I got mine. More open and full tone with the the Elixer, and the Zaolla is already a great cable. Not quite as obvious a difference when I put the pedalboard (wired with ELC) in the chain, but still noticeable.
I use my X2 into the pedalboard at church, so I just use a the only 15' cable I have, a canre. I doubt I would here much difference in the mix. Plus, I don't care about that cable too much, so I just leave it on the floor all time to speed up my set up time at 7:30 on a Sunday morning.:D

Okay, with all the talk I now have a 10' straight-straight coming my way. It is a freebie also, but not via TAG. ;)
I run a wireless unit, but will try this between my pedalboard and amp. I'll report back when I've had a little time with it.
Thanks,
Ray K.

My "freebie" 10 footer arrived today.
After using the "jaws of life" to get the plastic packaging open I was anxious to give it a whirl. This is only my initial impression, not conclusive.
I first hooked it between my amp and pedalboard. I really couldn't hear any significant difference.
Hmm, I says. So, I then just decided to plug guitar straight into the amp using the Elixir and one of my own cables. I went back and forth several times. I've got to be perfectly honest guys. I just don't hear enough difference. Bummer!
In fairness, I build my own using Canare cable with quality ends - Neutrik, G&H or Switchcraft.
I still plan to try it live, though that rig is essentially the same. But, I do realize how things can sound totally different in a live setting versus in a smaller music room.
I'll report back in a few days.
Oh, just for the record I am definitely still sold on Elixir strings! :)
Ray K.
way less change from a pedalboard to amp since the signal is probably already buffered. guitar to board for me is the most important place.
other than sound, the non tangling and no handling noise is another benefit for me.
I got my card, and sent it in...........I couldn't beleieve how fast I got the cable back!! I'll be able to plug it in tonight...........I Hope.........and I'll report back................

Ahh, I see.
Well, I tried comparing it with my wireless, which I would really hate to give up. There is some difference, but it isn't great enough for me to go back to being tethered to my rig, IMHO. I'm talking about for live use. It might prove useful for studio use.
Anyway, I'm really glad ya'll are enjoying these cables. I'm also glad I didn't have to spend $50 to find out if one would work for me.
If anyone is interested, I may decide to let this one go. So, keep an eye on the For Sale section.
Thanks,
Ray K.

not like I've got "Eric Johnson" ears or anything...but I'm a convert after hearing the difference in a high-gain situation. my Andy's seem to be a tad more 'brilliant' with a touch more sparkle on the top-end with the Elixirs. now this could be the cable but I like to think that the wood tones are no longer being colored unnecessarily. Either way, I picked up 2-10 footers an a 15 footer for the pedal board. great addition!

i think we're going through at least october this year.
wait, so after October, the Elixir coupons are going away?
they will be included at least until then. they basically said they would give one away with every guitar for a year, the equiv of 800 or so. interestingly only about 70 have been redeemed so far out of half a year's sales. i know many people don't register their guitars, but why wouldn't you send away for a free cable? it's a mystery.
Shhh......don't tell anyone but.....I just got another Anderson. The original owner didn't register or send in the coupon for the free cable. I'm hoping I can score a free T-Shirt and cable.....Shhhh......keep this under your hat! ;)

That is strange..........most folks will do ANYTHING in order to get something for free.
Tom, I'll offer my help to you in this strange and unexplainable situation. I'll take the other 330 FREE elixir cables off your hands..............
..........totally kidding, of course!! :D
i could use a few extra cables myself. unfortunately they ship them from elixir not from our shop.
nick, you pg got made today so it should ship tuesday.

I bought my guitar in February of this year, but you built it last September....if I cross the International Date Line on a Sunday during a leap year, do I qualify?:D
you should have gotten it if it was in the store in october. email me.

Hope you don't mind me posting this here, but I've had my "like new" 10 footer in the For Sale section for awhile without a single nibble.
I'm up for tradin' also. In case you or anyone else is interested. :)
Thanks,
