View Full Version : lubrication
Does the truss rod need to be lubricated?? I've been reading a few texts on set-up and some folks recommend lubricating the nut with vaseline - good idea or not??
any time you have a steel on steel connection that's supposed to move, lubrication is helpful. there is a fair amount of pressure on the surface of the tension rod nut, so turning it can be tough without lube. a little bit on the threads and end surface makes adjusting much easier. not something that needs to be done on a super regular basis, but if you're adjusting and it feels like it's binding, spin it off and lube it.
thanks Tom - will do.
finally overcame the fear of adjusting the action and am having a load of fun 'rediscovering' my atom
tension rod adjustments are something no one should be afraid of. it's the easiest way to keep your guitar in top playing condition.
