I was just wondering if Anderson has ever used Pau Ferro as a neck wood. I know it is used for finger boards but am interested if it is well suited for necks and what tonal properties it has. Also what body woods would work well with it.
Any info that could be offered would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Jason
we used to offer in back in the day. it's really heavy, and it's tone is super fundamental concentrated. the weight can be an issue with hollow guitars balance wise, and the tone for me is just not a lovely one. back in the day koa was often mated with pauferro necks.

Thanks Tom!
Just to back tom up on that (not that he needs it) - I had a lacewood grand am with a solid pao ferro neck. Looked great, felt awesome (waxy, smooth), but the guitar just didn't work on most things. When it worked, it worked incredibly well. Mid-high to high gain stuff. I'm sure the lacewood body had something to do with that, too, but there you have it. Think "Reb Beach from 1989" and you have an idea of what it sounded like.
[edit - in spite of its limitations - I used it A LOT because it played so well, and you could make it work by lots of knob fiddling].

Plus, I remember those lacewood guitars were REALLY pretty!
