Hi gang...I am brand new to this forum because I only just discovered Anderson Guitars. I played a used drop top with SF1, SF1R, and H02 (I think) and I just loved the playability, tonal variations, etc...great guitar.
It's a 2008, used, but mint. Not sure if I can ask this, but the guy wants about $2090 for it. Does this price seem fair?
I wish there was a place nearby where I could try the other models, but no one is convenient to where I live. However, I was hugely impressed with the drop top. I think it's a solid, per the serial number, and no trem (not an issue for me).
Thoughts?

Welcome to the forum!
If you check out eBay, you'll see that most TAGS sell in that price range. Not know the details of the guitar, it's hard to say. But for a 2008 that sounds like a bargain.
However, like most things, love is in the eye of the beholder. Each and every TAG, like a child, is unique and wonderful. If the guitar "speaks" to you, be sure to listen.
That's my two cents and, as a friend says, don't spend it all in one place!

It's definitely nice, and sounded great through an old princeton amp...
I see a lot of classics selling on ebay for less than the drop top. Not sure what the difference is (other than the pups in most of them).
Just trying not to overpay for a used one. I think a new one in this config is probably around $2800 - $3K...considering it's used, but mint, and a 2008, it doesn't seem like a bad deal

Drop tops have maple tops.

Yeah...I guess I knew that they had the maple "drop top". I was wondering more about the neck and other components. I assume they are roughly the same but might have some tonal differences (alder vs. maple capped basswood). I guess the gold hardware is an upcharge as well.
it's funny, I just thought this particular guitar was very nice to play, very comfortable, and the SF pups sounded great. I should just go get it....

Sounds like a decent deal to me.
most all the neck, pickup and hardware options are the same on all models. same quality on everything, just different tones and feels.

Thanks, Tom...Thinking it's a good idea to get this one. Then maybe get one of the other models down the road for some variation.

Be forewarned, once you get this one, you'll not rest till another one sits beside it!!! I was just telling a guy at one of my gigs last night, playing any other guitar after playing my andy's just feels clunky and not right. I'm still amazed when people come up and tell me how great my rig sounds, seems like they mention that far far more than my playing, go figure, but it's nice that the tone of these fine instruments is noticed by people other than myself. Enjoy your new axe, if you get it!!

That is a fair price for that one. You are a bit low on the new price. Remember new you pay tax too.

Classics have a pick guard, whereas the Drop Tops show off the entire maple top in all its glory. :D

If you like true singles you should look at the guitar Rhys is selling on this forum. That is a great price and a nice place to start. I'd be all over it if I did not have one very much like it already.

I did look at the one Rhys is selling....I like it, and reached out to him about it. I'm trying to decide what to do....sooooo many guitars, but only two hands...8^)

I had a couple of hours so I went back and played the Drop Top again. I love the neck on that guitar. But I was less enamored today with it than last time.
I'm starting to think about maybe getting an Atom. I've always been a single coil guy, but lately, I'm in the mood for something different. Thought maybe a dual HB Atom would do the trick....Played an LP recently, and the HB"s sounded good to me.
Subjective question, I know...but what do you Atom owners think of the Atom with dual HB's for playing blues and maybe some classic rock lead and strumming songs...?
Typically I play blues (BB, TBone, Muddy...) or 60's and early 70's rock (mix of Grateful Dead, Neil Young, Dylan, Seger, Mellancamp). Only more modern stuff I play is a few things from the Chili Peppers, Green Day, Oasis...
Seem like a good fit?

My atom has an h1 in the neck and h2 in the bridge, I love it for something different, I trade off between my classic T, and drop top classic with 2 singles and h3 in the bridge. I love my atom! It can get really blusey or very aggresive for rock. It sonically covers a lot of territory.

Where are you located, 3Step? Knowing that, we might be able to hook you up with different TAGS. Speaking only for myself, I'm happy to let folks try out my Cobra (under supervision, of course!).

I'm in North Jersey. The nearest place is in CT. Possibly NY, but I think there's a dealer in New Haven.
I actually get to PA from time to time for work...near central bucks county. You in that area?

I'm just west of Philadelphia, or a straight shot down route 1 from Bucks County. There are some other folks in North Jersey as well as Bucks County...I'll let 'em speak for themselves.

Have you been to the Anderson site to look for dealers? There are a few in NYC.
