What kind of material for the nut is used on a 06 Crowdster+? Have you changed the stock nut material (bone, tusq, etc.) since then? What would you recommend as a replacement?

Thanks!

we have used tusq forever. have played with some of the other synthetics and none have performed as well. i also didn't feel that bone did a better job. i actually felt like bone could bind easier than the tusq.

Thanks for the reply Tom. My SS frets are showing signs of wear and I need to get them fixed. I didn't know if the nut will need to be replaced so I thought I'd ask about the material (just in case).

Blessings!

Just to amplify on what Tom said: TAG nuts a made from synthetic bull seal tusqs. It's a renewable resource.

the "bull seal" comment may more bull than seal.
normally when frets are dressed they are lowered slightly, so the nut can usually be regrooved to match. it would only have to be replaced if it had worn beyond that.
