Is it possible and has anyone made the swap, just curious cause I favor Locking and always get hung up on having them.

I know, I know, my wife says I'm rear retentive that way :D

This is timely! Yesterday I received an order of stuff that was supposed to include a set of Gotoh locking tuners. When I opened the box, I found tuners that were not the locking variety, and called the supplier, Beyond Eleven. The tuners I received were packaged in All Parts wrapping, and the part number on the package corresponds to non-locking tuners shown on the All Parts web site.

What I received was item 7262-010; what I ordered was 7237-010.

The person at Beyond Eleven tried to convince me that what I received were, in fact, locking tuners, but not the type that lock the strings in place. Rather, the gearing on the tuners (21:1) prevent the string posts from "unwinding."

I think I'm being had. Help!

I spoke to the folks at Beyond Eleven today and was assured that Gotoh does not offer a locking tuner of any sort. When I attempted to challenge this conclusion, my less-than-helpful resource told me I didn't know what I was talking about...

Plan: return non-locking tuners to Beyond Eleven and order Grovers from Stew Mac. At least the folks at Stew Mac have never told me I didn't know what I was talking about.

Lesson learned: Beyond Eleven is not a place to visit, much less patronize!

Stew Mac has locking Gotohs. I think you'd be happier with them. Click the link below and scroll down a bit.

It sounds like they were too busy patronising you. ;) They must be from Bizarro world.

These Gotoh Locking Tuning Keys, Minis, 6-in-line, Black, With Screws, 16:1 here at AllParts look like the exact ones that are on my Andersons:

Thanks, folks. So Gotoh it is. I need 3X3s and StewMac only has 6 in-lines. The link to All Parts does have the 3X3s.

And, let's not forget Buckaroo's legacy living on in "The Fifth Element" which featured my very favorite techno-babble line of all time...

Regarding the "locking tuners" I received from Beyond Eleven:

I submitted a return authorization request and it was approved...with the stipulation of a non-negotiable restocking fee of 15-30%. This was even after I pointed out that the item sent was not the item ordered, based on part number.

Guess I'll keep these tuners for one of my acoustic projects.

Over the past five or six years, this is the first time I've had a negative experiencing buying luthier supplies on the web. Guess I'm lucky!

Man, that is really ridiculous!!!
And also extremely poor judgement in my opinion... I mean why would you want to piss of your customers like this ... especially in this tough economy and how quickly word gets around.
I don't get it!

Although I have no complaints about the vintage tuners that came with my CT Atom, but I can not get used to them :(

Given the information on this thread, whom would you suggest I contact for Locking Tuners ( prefer them to have the "A" ).

I forget if TAG sells them, I would be willing to buy it from TAG.
