Hey all, could someone give me the low down on what the differences are between an Atom, an Atom CT and an Atom Special. I have checked on the TA website and am not able to get clear distinctions between the bunch. I am very interested in this gtr and just would like to understand what the differences are.... thank you as always! dp
previous versions of atoms had a wrap around bridge. they now all have tunamatic and stop tailpiece.
the special is an all mahogany body.
the aton has a .2" thick maple top bent over the forearm contour.
the ct has a thicker carved maple top along with the thicker mahogany back.
you can get a bigsby on the special and regular atom.

Thank you Tom! I love the Atom CTs I have been seeing, can I get with a Les Paul type Switch? best dp
we actually have one at the shop that way. you lose the other sounds since the 3 way has no extra switching capacity. not sure if we'll really offer them that way.

The CT with the "standard" 3 way toggle would be great. Why can't the tone be a pull up to convert the humbuckers to singles?
My CT has the 5 way with 2 & 4 being single with the pull up making 3 single for both neck and bridge. Is there a reason why the pull up can not convert whichever is selected as single?
I find that when I want to play as full humbucking that switching to either the middle position or the bridge takes a little longer and the sound gets clipped by going through the single/humbuck stages. Minor but perceptible.
the 2 and 4 positions are not split, they are parallel which is humcancelling. the hc's don't split as well as some of our other humbuckers, so we really like what they do in parallel. the humcancelling doesn't hurt either.

Got it. Sorry for the misnomer. But.... can the concept for the three way toggle be applied so that normal would be full output (series?) with a pull up for parallel?
no, the pull pot does not have enough switching capacity.

Tom earlier in this thread you said:-"previous versions of atoms had a wrap around bridge. they now all have tunamatic and stop tailpiece."
I was just wondering if there was any specific reasons that you changed over from wrap around bridge to tunamatic and stop tailpiece on the Atoms?
Are there any difference in tone between the two configurations?
we were having supply and consistency problems with the wrap around. the combination of those 2 lead us to try the tunamatic and we actually liked the sound better too. the wrap around is a bit more mid focused while the tunamatic has a bit more highs and lows.
