Tom Anderson Bass Guitars?

Has Tom ever or, has there ever been consideration of making bass guitars?

tom can probably chime in better, but i think i saw one bass before, but read that he said lots of people make great basses and he would stick to guitars.

in the old days we made bass parts for other builders. we stopped that in 1990. our standard answer has been that we will start making basses 2 years from when ever you ask. we have made a few basses, and could make basses, but i play guitar and guitars are what i know and love so we'll stick to guitars. there's still plenty of room for new and better guitars for us to build.

I'm divided on the subject:

It's a shame bass players can't share the experience.

Good - I want all your attention focused on 6-string guitars!

However, curiosity is compelling me to inquire...

Does that mean you will build a bass for an individual 2 years after their request if they continue to express interest or, if there's enough overall demand at a single point in time, you will begin a 2 year process to manufacture them?
