Does anyone out there own or have you played both? Besides being lighter in weight, darker in tone, is there any other remarkable differences? I like the bite of the Cobra and was wondering if the hollow looses much of that.

Thanks for any info!

I believe the bite is exactly what you lose - in exchange for more "openness." But that's just what my my ears tell me.

...I have a Hollow T (H/S/H; switcheroo) with a mahogany back and maple cap. The mahogany back on this model sorta keeps the Cobra "thing" going but with a Drop Top flair. Also, the maple neck and madagascar board add a slight twist to the tone, not so much Cobra, but very nice it its own right on this guitar. With the longer scale I get the snap that I like and the H2+ bridge pup has plenty of bite. Overall, the tone of this guitar is not dark nor is it bright. Rather, it is very immediate.

Not a Cobra comparison, but an option to think about.

For myself alone and with tone and oneness, Mike.

If you did an A/B test with 2 Cobras one being hollow and the other solid, you would feel the pick attack or hit was harder or bigger with the solid one.....or you could say the hollow one was a softer hit.

Hollow Cobra- brighter, more resonant, slightly slower note response, chords sound more open and balanced.

Love the weight of my hollow- 7 lbs. even

Thinking of changing to a hotter pickup to get a tad more bite.

I could not think of a better way to put it.
Although my personal taste lean toward solid.

Thanks for all the info guys. As much as I want to get the hollow Mr. Price is selling on this forum, I just don't think it's the right guitar for me. I think the Cobra solid is what I am looking for. I just can't locate 'the' cobra for me. Especially one with a fixed bridge.

I think if you need a smoother sound with some subtleties the hollow will give you that. For a more agressive sound the solid is the thing.

IMHO an S version will add some bite back to a hollow, but it relax or thin the sound a bit. Think PRS Custom 22 with more character and resonance.

I have a hollow Cobra S with M1 M1 M3 that Tom and his folks are preparing for me hopefully coming in about three weeks. Kind of a twist, sort of a DT/Cobra thingy. I've been a Strat guy all my life. I'll let you know about it when it arrives.

Ebay has Cobras all the time. Give it a week or two. Its wirth it to wait for just he right one!

Hi Thomas, it's nice to see you on this forum. As you know, I've owned both (the S versions)-I like the solid cobra better because of its aggressiveness and bite. I did like hollow cobra's weight though! Good luck. Has your PRS singlecut sold yet? Mark
