I know a couple of you own Taylor 12 strings and perhaps you can help me save the $60.00 it will cost me to take it in ...I was jamming last night and everything was fine but all of a sudden the guitar began to gut out and go back on like my cable was going bad ...I switch guitars to my Martin anfd it worked fine.I did learned that Taylor uses two AA batteries and I switched those ..now there is no sound ...cable is fine ..amp is fine...batteries are changed ...
i'd give them a call, they'd be most familiar with potential problems and have the solution.

Ffogg...have you by any chance tried putting a piece of Post-It paper around the AA's? Just wrap it like a sleeve.
Seriously...that's one of the 'fixes' I've (heard about and) tried - and it worked with my 810CE.
Or call a reputable local place that sells them...or Taylor, like Tom suggested. Not sure about rechargable batteries - I've never used them in there.
Good luck!

BTW "have you by any chance tried putting a piece of Post-It paper around the AA's? Just wrap it like a sleeve."
Mine came shipped like that by Taylor and they advised by phone that it was simply preventive to stop any rattle or vibration be cause batteries differ in size. .Taylor was very helpful
What was the problem? What was the solution.
Inquiring minds want to know. :)
