Well, I would say that it was a respectable game. Lots of excitment and thankfully no blowout. The Cards played a good game and the Steelers did what champions do. Find a way to win. All in all a good time. Except for when I ran out to get my wife something from the corner store in the second quarter and a lady ran a red light and hit me. Missed halftime, all the third and quite a bit of the third.

Well... I have to say it Jennifer Hudson killed the National Anthem!!UNBELIEVABLE!!One has to wonder if life experience can take performance to the next level. Best I have ever heard! And Bruce was a great fit for the halftime show, he completely rocked and was having a great time, its about time some reality/soul came to the halftime extravaganza!! Great game, not as great as the Giants game last year:) , but great! March Madness look out!!dp

I don't know about Jennifer Hudson, but Bruce's show was so organic there was no way he lip sync'd.

Well, Road, I hope things are OK. Bummer to get hit...hopefully you were encased in a hunk of metal. And I hope you were rewarded for your chivalry!
The game was awesome. Usually, the outcome is a foregone conclusion, but not this one. I usually watch just for the commericals, but actually wound up watching the game itself. Awesome effort by both teams. Woulda been fun to see the Cards win, if only to reinforce that even the underdog can prevail. Our kids need to learn that!
OUCH!! Road King, I hope all is well............it's a dangerous world out there!!
Great game. But, yea, not nearly as good as the Giants last year! :D
Roethensberger was impressive. Both of the passes he made to the corners of the end zone (first one SHOULD have been caught!) were amazing passes in clutch situations.
Fun game to watch, for sure!
As good a game as it was, there's nothing like March Maddness!!

Thanks guys, yep, all is well. My truck is in the shop. I'm drivin a Tundra. I have a police report that faults the other driver and an eyewitness that gave a written statement that faults the other driver, so thier insurance shouldn't fight too hard even though the other driver wants too.
I guess the only problem I'm having is everytime I start this new truck and put it in drive the windshield wipers come on. (Got to get used to the shifter being between the seats instead of on the column.):o

I thought the E Street band sounded great but i thought the Boss was struggling a bit with the vocals . In all fairness he is a bit older now so the range is going . He struggled with born to run . Wonder if they use Eb tuning ? If not they might consider it .

I dunno, Suriel. This one had me convinced. Faith Hill "sang" a short while before and hers was pretty obvious. There was one part where she opened wide to take the next deep breath and the last letters of the previous word were still being sung. That's when I kinda checked out.
But I stared at the Hudson anthem with eagle eyes trying to see if it was live or memorex. I had three conclusions:
1. That was the most I've EVER been moved by the performance of our anthem.
2. I think she was actually performing it.
3. Even if it was memorex, she recorded it soon before its telecast, and for that rendition and warmth, I still gotta give her big love for her performance. If it was prerecorded, I'm assuming it went through a little tune-up, but it was the emotion, delivery, and note choice that was so moving. Kudos and peace to Miss Hudson.
a friend tech'd for aerosmith a few years back when they did the halftime show. he was tolkd they alway prerecord in case there's a problem at show time. not that they always use it, but just in case.

In case you hadn't heard, Yoyo Ma and company pre-recorded their performance for the inauguration, and wound up using the tape. It seems their instruments would have fared poorly in the cold temperatures. I understand the musicians coated their bow strings with wax to make sure they would not make any sounds while they "played."
From NYTimes.com:
"The players and the inauguration organizing committee said the arrangement was necessary because of the extreme cold and wind during Tuesday’s ceremony. The conditions raised the possibility of broken piano strings, cracked instruments and wacky intonation minutes before the president’s swearing in (which had problems of its own)." http://www.nytimes.com/2009/01/23/arts/music/23band.html
Now, would that be considered a "lip synch" or a "bow synch?"

I've also heard this is pretty common on award shows and such. The artists will record the song at rehearsal in the venue where it will be performed so it has the right tone for the room and then during the show will the singer will lip sync and the band will pretend to play.
I really don't have an issue with it. At a place like the super bowl how could the artist be expected to hear themselves on the field with all the other noise going on. Blimp overhead, jets flying around, not to mention crowd noise.
I play in a band that also owns a sound company, Buffalo Sound, and this year the Baltimore Ravens hired the sound company to set up speakers all over their indoor training facility and play crowd noise while the team was practicing and it was played loud, >150db I think. I don't know how any artist could be expected to perform on the field under those conditions.
Just my .02.

Hmmm...
I had some oral surgery today and the meds are giving me a new perspective on things. I can envision Yoyo Ma playing an Anderson with his bow, but am struggling with an image of Itzhak Perlman with a Cobra tucked under his chin.
