I got the TAG movie. It is really cool. Yes it is for us gear geeks, so I doubt the family will be interested LOL!
You look good Tom!
thanks. i've actually lost some weight since then since i have a "cholesterol problem". my wife just rolled her eyes when she walked in on me watching it.
it's been enough time since the filming that it was like i was watching someone else say that stuff. i was hoping that the part with me playing wasn't going to be in it. when we shot that the amp volume was so low i was feeling so exposed. when they turned on the camera a totally froze up. couldn't wait for it to be over. still trying to figure out how to show what different guitars do in an objective way. maybe this year we'll get something set up here so we can easily shoot short video that will help.

Hey Tom. I am great friends with a guy that runs a professional video production company. We'd love to come help you shoot as many "short" videos as you need. We could maybe do some tradin' or something. You know, video services for...oh I dunno...a guitar? Hehe.
what we really need is some setup here that we can just plug into and go when ever something is available to shoot.

Ok Tom, this is important. Pay attention. Do it this way and no one gets their feelings hurt....
"I'd like to thank God for making all this possible. Then of course my lovely wife, who gives me my inspiration and her love. My children for their love and patience. And of course the great folks at Anderson Guitarworks..."
After that all the eyes in the house will be watered up and no one will care if you got to them or not. Oh and be sure to hold the statue in a kind of cavalier way, like Clooney would!
Don't forget Tom. Practice in front of the mirror while you are tying, (or attaching?) the bow tie for your tux, OK?
Seriously that was a very interesting video. You all did a great job in my opinion!

+100. This would be awesome, although probably not so much for those trying to recover from GAS! ;)

Great Idea, Tom. It would help prospective buyers, especially those that don't live near an Anderson dealer. They could see, and hear Andys.
Also, YouTube posted vids would be an inexpensive form of advertising for you.
Sounds like a win win situation.

I finally got my DVD today as well. Obviously I had to watch it right away! Absolutely fantastic!!! Love it!!!
And as for the family being interested. Well... I managed to convince my wife to watch it with me. Half way through I noticed that she fell asleep... :)
And what did she say when she woke up? "Oh, that Tom Anderson has a really soothing voice!" :D :D :D Great job, Tom! ;)

My DVD arrived yesterday, and I was not able to talk my wife into watching it with me. So after she went to bed, I loaded it up and started watching.
It is an awesome video! I really like the way you interspersed guitar build info with players. And, to second Markus' wife, Tom's voice is very soothing...
This morning I turned the video back on, used the nifty scene selection feature to figure out where I dozed off, and finished watching.
My absolute favorite scene is the last where Tom is checking out the guitar...when he just looks down at it with pure affection! I'm going to assume (and don't tell me otherwise) that the look was real and scene unrehearsed.
Thanks for this great production!
first i must thank mark who did the video for making me look smart, and the great editing ideas. secondly it was all off the cuff. there were very few second takes. it's pretty easy for me to talk about stuff that i love. now playing in front of a camera is another story...

Excellent video! Brilliant job Tom, well spoken and excellent choice of technical content.
I just received it today, and had to get it home so I could see how these guitars are actually made. Great stuff!

Hey Guys,
I created and produced the DVD. I'd like to say thanks to those that ordered the video and posted great reviews here. This was the first project to be released by my company and there are more gear videos in the works, as well as instructional ones too.
For those that have seen the DVD, I'm sure you'll agree with me that Tom did an absolutely amazing job, and so did all the pro players I included in the video. They all were very eager to participate because of their adoration and respect for Tom and his guitars. Their performances and testimonials really helped to make the video extra special.
I'll be here at the Anderson Forum to answer any questions you guys have or if you just want to talk about the DVD. I welcome your input and thoughts.
Thank You,
Mark LeBlanc

I LOVED it. The wife actually liked most of it (being a school teacher),
It made me GAS for a T style and a Crowdy. This video was very informative tonally and the best thing about it is that you can use it for reference for ordering purposes.
I would have liked references for all models. Playing all models through a neutral amp with the chosen players, would have been nice, but then again, it would have taken more time..probably as long as the dvd itself. Still, I think it is excellent and already have friends wanting to see it..

I watched my copy today and really enjoyed it.
Thanks to those involved for giving us a greater appreciation of what goes into the making of the instruments we so admire!;)

I think they tried that, Dave, and the exhaust caught on fire! It was a gorgeous flame-top Oscar Meyer...

Got mine, I'm always amazed at the amount of carpentry, plus innovation and technology and thought goes into this stuff. So many times I think if it as a "guitar shop" and forget that these are experts in precision woodworking, electronics, painting, etc.
Really good stuff, thanks for making this available Tom!

My copy arrived in Pretoria, Deepest Darkest Africa today.
Found it very informative.
Congratulations to all involved.
I will show the video to my HDT Koa later so she can see where she came from, and let her see what her "Dad" looks like!!!!
Now about getting an Atom CT to Deepest Darkest Africa.............................

This is an awesome DVD! I loved seeing Tom talk about what they do and show off the shop. I'd love to see this become a series too with other makers. So much great knowledge.
I also was surprised to hear Tom say that they offer 1 3/4" nuts on the 25.5" scale guitars. Is this an upcharge? I'm debating between a few different Anderson models and this would honestly help in my decision. I have rather fat fingers so big nuts (hehe:o :p ) are a plus to me.
mark is planning on more videos on other factories. i believe dr z is next on the list, which should make some folks around here happy:)
yes 1 3/4 is available on 25.5 scale, no upcharge.

Hey Tom,
Can we get any info on that sweet Maple necked Atom behind Clint Black?
clint's #1 is an alder hollow t classic with a maple neck. on the last record he was asking about a guitar that sounded as close to that as possible but with a bigsby. so we made a couple stabs at it. we ended up with a solid alder atom with maple neck and a bigsby. it has the same t'd pickups as the htc. we recessed the bigsby so he'd have the same feel as he was used to. we used a longer spring so the arm would be up in a more normal place. it's a pretty cool guitar. i have an earlier version here that is hollow without the recessed bigsby and TV pickups.

Hey Guys,
I just want to say THANK YOU to everyone that purchased the video and left such nice and positive comments about it. It's been very uplifting to know that my work and production have been appreciated. I'm glad you all liked the movie. I wanted to include a giant mechanical shark in the video but it wasn't in the budget. Maybe the next one, we'll see.
Thanks again!

DVD arrived here in UK.....a really good watch. :) Only downside was that the Royal Mail and HM Customs stung me for £12.36 of duty.....£8 of that was the Royal Mails handling fee!!!

I was just watching the DVD again. The neck part to be specific.
When Tom refers to the table with necks that are resting for a month there is a neck on the second shelf from the bottom to the right of the screen. Has a headstock shape that looks like the headstock from a company that I will not mention but starts with an 'F'
Whats up with that?

Man... and I thought I was detail-oriented...! :D
without going back and looking for it in the video, i went out and looked on that cart and i don't see anything that resembles "that" headstock. could have been something one of the guys was refretting for someone.

in my line of work you can't miss details....kinda spills over into the outside world.
if it's a big one, it's definitely a repair someone was doing. we never made those, even when we were making replacement necks in the 80's.

That scene was all one take and as real as real gets, completely unrehearsed. I had the same reaction as everyone else that was part of the production when we saw it. We all were pretty struck by Tom's affection for his guitars. Great stuff, you can't make this up. It's one of my favorite scenes in the video.

I don't know Tom personally. I haven't seen the video. But, I think I can say that what you saw in that scene is called Passion...........no matter what you do, make sure you have some.

Anyone know who's playing/what guitar in the intro on the dvd? Sounds like some kind of sweet single coils w/ a little hair on it, love that tone.
it's tim pierce, he has an alder classic and a drop top classic that he uses interchangably. both have 3 SD's or SA's with maple necks and floyds. he also has an atom special and a ct, but that sounds like the classics.

Thanks Tom. It sounds awesome! Did he record that for the dvd or is that on some album somewhere?
don't know for sure. he's always recording so it may have been something he had, or he could have just done it on the fly. he's so darn good.

Thanks Tom. It sounds awesome! Did he record that for the dvd or is that on some album somewhere?
The music was provided to me by my friend, Tim Pierce. He had these tracks laying around that he and Jason Scheff (singer and bassist of Chicago) and drummer, John Molo created. They used to do some live club shows in L.A. years ago and they continue to play or "jam" together for fun. There were 3 tracks I had and I used specific sections that worked for the video. The music was not made just for the DVD, it was a "jam" recording that Tim was so cool to let me use.
Any other questions about the video, let me know. Thanks!

Since we're speaking of Tim Pierce, I hope everyone has heard his CD called "Guitarland". Just a terrific instrumental CD showcasing his great playing, and song writing.
Does anyone know if he has a website, or how I could find out when (or if) he is planning on releasing another CD?
i spoke to him about another cd, but he's such a busy guy that i would not expect it any time soon. he said it took quite a bit of time, which he doesn't have, to put that one together.
