Hi
I have owned Andersons for several years now and presently own and gig with an Atom. I actually bought the Atom which was reviewed by "Guitarist" magazine in early 2006. The guitar received a 5 star rating in the magazine and is superb - certainly my favourite from the many GAS attacks I have had in the last 8 years.
I am a "mature" member - 60 next year - and got back to playing again after a 35 year+ layoff when I retired in 2001.
I have just ordered an Atom CT from the USA and- just my luck - the £ has fallen like a stone against the $. Bingo to the retirement fund.
Looking forward to receiving the guitar and renewing my acquaintance with the Forum.
Tony

Welcome Tony!

Post a pic when you can! It is kind of an unwritten, (OK it is actually more written than unwritten) rule!

Welcome, Tony!!

What other Andys do you currently possess? Do you gig?

And, oh yes, remember that;

Thanks for your welcome.
I would love to post pics but I am ashamed to admit I am non-techy and don't have a clue how to do it.

Thanks for your welcome.
I would love to post pics but I am ashamed to admit I am non-techy and don't have a clue how to do it.

Use Photobucket.com. Create an account and upload pics there. It is free, and it does not matter what size the original is. And you can upload multiple photos at one time.

Once you are done you will have created an "album." And under each photo in the album will be four links. Click on the bottom link marked "IMG Code." After you click on it a balloon will pop up that says "copied".

Open a second explorer window or tab, (or Firefox or whatever you use). Open up the Anderson Forum site and go to the thread where you want to post your pics.

Type a few words, (you need a minimum of 10 characters to create a post), then right click in the post and click paste. You'll see some link jibberish.

Cursor down a bit and click "Preview Post". Poof Voila! Your picture will be there! Just like this:

Hopefully a photo of the two Andersons I have owned. I bitterly regret that I no longer have the Hollow T Contour but the Atom will shortly be joined by a CT with the new kickback switch for all positions on the new HC pickups.

and finally.......... the ravages of time........first 1967 (aged 18) with Gretsch and Vox AC30.... resplendent in kaftan and beads.....and then 2006 (aged 57) after the arrival of the Atom. I never picked a guitar up between 1969 and 2001 else I might have been a Clapton clone by now.......alas I am not!

WOW! Nice Rig! And the stuff you got since 67 is pretty cool too.

Do you still have that shirt?

Tony..........great pics! Thanks for posting them. We LOVE photos.

Is it me, or does that "young Tony" look a tad like Pete T??? LOL

Love all of your gear......of course the Andys!! I also note you are running Cornfords.........I LOVE CORNFORDS!! Is that a 2x12 cab, or a 4x12???

And, forgive me, but what is the "kickback" switch? I have an early CT.......is it the toggle that takes you from bucker to single???

Hi Don
The Cornford cab is a 2x12. At my age it's about as heavy as I am able to comfortably lift when it is flightcased.
The subject of pickup switching with an Atom is a bit of a story.
My Atom is an early one which has 3 humbucking positions and 3 single coil positions (2 on the blade and a pull pot). On later Atoms Tom used the new kickback switching system. With kickback, in the former single coil positions the pickups are not single coiled but are made to ape a single coil tone by dialling out some of the bass/mids. An advantage is that there is no single coil hum. With the CT having the new HC pickups most have had no single coil option but, instead, the option of series and parallel humbucking. CT's having an M series pickup in the neck have been offered with kickback switching. Tom has been working on perfecting kickback for the new neck position HC pickup and when he is ready the CT can be offered with HC pickups and full kickback switching. I prefer this option so I have ordered with this spec and the guitar shouldn't be too long - I think!
This is a little complex but I am sure the Supreme Commander will correct me if I have made any errors.

Thanks for that info, Tony.

I have an Atom CT with the five position pu selector, which does the series/parallel thing. It also has the push/pull on the tone knob. And, it has the mini toggle which I THINK splits all three pu's makin them single coils.

But, now, I'M NOT SURE!! LOL

what was the question?
if you're describing the ct wiring, the series/parallel version does not have a pushpull or mini switch.
interesting photos. the top one looks like tobacco fade, the bottom one like honey burst. must be that flip flop pearl we're not using;)

The pictures are both of my CT. The top is taken by Jack at Magdon, and the bottom is on my back porch. It's interesting how different the color looks in those.........relates to a recent discussion in another thread.....In person, it's true color looks like Jack's photo> I think that the sunlight brought out the oranges in my photo???

In reading my post above........I did a run on sentance....I went from describing my CT's wiring, to the wiring on my HDT.....sorry if I confused.

My CT, as you said Tom, does not have the the mini toggle nor the push pull. It has HC1-A and HC1+A pu's, and the 5 way Series/Parallel wiring.

Can you describe what the push pull and mini toggle do on a CT? I also read Roy's comments about some new pu's for the CT.....can you tell us about this as well?

I apologize for hijacking your thread, Tony!!

there is no mini toggle on the ct. we are working on a new kickback for the ct which will have a pp tone pot to allow for kickback with both pickups on.
the new HC's are a complete rebuild, and have a more traditional structure than our other humbuckers. i'm not the best at describing tone, but here goes. the old hc's were on the mono dimensional side, sort of intentionally. that style of guitar can be leaning in that direction but i think we went too far. the new ones have a wonderful clarity to the top end without an ounce of ugly harshness. the low end is sweeter and more defined. we are doing 2 versions of the bridge pickup. the HC1+ is what you'd expect from a bridge pickup that was made to go with the vintage style neck pickup. a bit hotter than stock les paul so it doesn't have the nasal quality that les pauls can have. the HC2 is only a bit hotter, but has a beautiful saturation when you hit it hard. both are very dynamic and clean up better than anything we have done before.
they compliment the m1 very nicely or work great with the also redone HC1-.

..sounds like the replacements for the stock 57s in my LPC.

As much as I love your gear, I want one of those kaftans. (or is that a Nehru jacket?)

Good isn't it. !967 must have been the flower power era so it had to be a kaftan onstage (with the appropriate beads of course). My good old mother made my kaftan, god rest her soul. Happy days! I was looking at the books of that old band - in 17 months we played 110 gigs which is probably the reason why I was failing my accountancy exams at the time.
