Any one know where I can get strat or LP tophat style knobs that will fit on the pot shafts on an Anderson. I just tried to put some black strat knobs on my new Classic, and just discovered this.

Nothing against the chrome knobs, I have just never liked how they feel and always change them out when I get a guitar with them. Plus, I actually use the numbers to remember settings. This is the first time I have encountered these shafts.

I've made some strat plastic knobs work by drilling them out to fit the shaft, and then tapping a set screw into the side. They must be carefully installed because - well - they're plastic. These guys sell chrome and gold versions of this style, but they also have to be drilled out to fit the Alpha shaft: http://www.longislandguitarparts.com/Knobs-Metal_Knobs.html

Feel free to contact me (pm) if you are interested in a set of the custom plastic version.

Thanks Benny.

Seems like a lot of work, might be easier to just swap the pots out. I think I will try to get used to these. If not I pull a couple of the old brownface style knobs off one of my amps and give that a try. At least they have a line to go buy.

Though, I did notice that he put the set screws facing up to help with that.

Absolutely, you can get the Alpha pots with a split shaft which makes the most sense to accommodate the vintage style knobs. The only difference would be the pot taper. He can verify this, but I think Tom's pots are made to his specs.
