have not played the rebel yet. would like to. i have a handful of 15-20 watters now so i am feeling a bit guilty of over possessing right now. but i did play an interesting ac15 handwired yesterday:o how many el84 amps can one man have?

The hand-wired Vox AC-15's are the bomb. I have one and really dig it.

bruce here has one and we opened it up yesterday and it's pretty interesting inside. horrible to replace tubes or fuse, but very clever assembly style. a pc board instead of flying wires, but with turrets for the components. sure does the vox thing. light years better than the ac15cc.

I put a NOS Telefunken EF84 in it and it really made a difference in that channel. The amp is quite different from my Voxer though. The Voxer is a bit heaver/thicker sounding and it also does the Marshall thing too.

one of the other guys here had to replace the ef86 in his 65 amp, and said there was quite a dif, not positive, when he switched to the jj from the nos original. the voxer is one i would like to have.

Sure, there's a lot of bad NOS tubes out there. Gabi at Gabriel does a cool thing with that tube, he wraps it in rubber to keep down the vibrations.

the ac15 also has it all wrapped up and mounted on a pretty cool shock mount platform.
the 65 had a great sounding nos ef86, when he switched to the jj, which was still $27, it was not sounding as nice.
let's stop talking about these, i'm getting gas.
