Setting up SC Pickups.

I guess this question would have to go to Tom!

I just installed a set of SC pickups into my classic and was wondering if I approach them like single coils or humbuckers? Should I angle them or can I just leave them flat. I also noticed that I can't lower them as far down as I could with the VA5's it seems like they're hitting the bottom of the cavity. The lower I go it starts to lift the pickgaurd and the screws stick out. maybe I'm missing a trick?....

I will say so far they sound BIG!

they are a bit taller than the others because the pole pieces stick up through the top of the bobbin, but they want to be close to the strings, maybe even closer than you would ever think. i've been happiest when they are crazy close. the mag field will not bother the strings.

Is OK to set them straight across with a slight angle?

i have been setting them pretty flat, no angle.
