Because you've been a bad boy.
Because it's Friday.
Because you hate great guitars.

Easy:

1. You should buy it...cause it's cool
2. You should buy it...cause you want to
3. You should buy it...cause long live the 80's!!!

In all seriousness, the only thing that gives me worry is the time and possible hassle of string changes.

I'm a real stickler when it comes to ease of set-up and intonation, I stop and wonder if the Floyd would detract from me being able to get dead on intonation and thus lessing my joy for the guitar.

I know I may be over-analyzing this but I wonder if I'd enjoy a non Floyd more.

I used to HATE restringing and intonating my Floyd until I saw a tech do it in about 5 minutes!

The first thing he did was take the back plate trem cover off the guitar. Then he added some tension to the springs and put some wooden shims in there to block the trem so it was perfectly flat. Then he removed all the strings at once, put on a new set, and intonated the guitar as if it was a hard tail. Once he'd done that, he removed the shims.

Then came the magic; he adjusted the spring screws until the A string was back in tune. And since everything is balanced, as soon as that happened, the whole guitar was then not only in tune, but perfectly set up.

Once you know the trick (blocking the trem) Floyds are easy!

I really liked my Floyd Rose equipped Drop Top. One of the only guitars that I have ever had that I could tune at home - drive to the studio / gig , ect. and take it out of the case and play it all night without touching the tuning

1. It's not 1988.
2. Spandex is now out of style.
3. Dive bombing is for poseurs.

Yow!! lol.

we see guitars here fairly regularly for set ups, and floyd guitars seldom are way out of wack intonation wise unless someone has messed with them. with everything locked down, as long as you are consistent with string brands and changing i don't see them as needing intonation adjustments as often.

I'm consistently amazed how well in tune my TA guitars stay even with trem use. I'm not a dive bomber, but I do a lot of chordal shaking and we do some Chris Isaq stuff which needs that tremolo stuff. I'd suggest even trying a standard tremolo set-up unless you like the flutter and dive stuff. Just my two cents, I bet a TAG with a floyde would be pretty cool for that van halen stuff.

A reason NOT to buy a floyd-equipped DT?

...maybe because they're ugly, like this one?
