If I wanted to add a middle pickup to a Hollow T that currently has an M1 and a TM3, what would be a good choice?

Am I smarter to stay with another M1 , or could I go with something like the new SF?

And just to complicate my question alittle-------how would the switching work? Would the kickback feature also affect the SF pickup?

that's somewhat complicated and any answer will be an opinion, so here goes.
an m1 would be the easiest and most logical addition. it will work with the kickback but the wiring will be fairly involved. space is at a premium on those so you may have to choose between features. normally on that we would have an add bridge on the pp tone pot but with the kickback you may have to loose that since there's no room for an additional mini switch.
the SF in the middle might give you a bit better combination sounds, but the kickback on it is a bad idea.
tell me which sounds are most important to you, and i'll figure out what makes the most sense.

Well----maybe this would be an easier question. Would it be possible to just put in an SF (for example) and use a mini toggle to simple turn that pickup on, whenever I wanted it? In other words, simply leave the M1/TM3 setup as is-------but simply switch on that middle pickup whenever I choose.

I realize I would not be able to use the middle pickup by itself------but that may not be a big deal.

Tell me if this is a bad idea------or if it is something that isn't even possible?

that's actually a good idea especially if middle alone is not a priority. it may be a squeeze to get the switch in there, but as long as it's hollow there should be a way.

How about something like this? I completely love mine! Serial 06-11-05p.
Pickups are - M1 SA1 TD3+

Tom----wouldn't the switch simply fit between the volume and tone controls, or are you talking about something internally that may be crowded?

Oh---mslugano---that's an absolutely beautiful guitar! Yes, similar to yours--except with an TM3 in the bridge.

there is a 1" square or so module that contains the kickback components.

Thanks Tom.

Well, well. We shall see. This may be something I'll want to pursue.
