I'm looking at a Hollow T with an M1 neck, and TM3 in the bridge. Have not had a chance to go play the guitar and could use some help understanding the 5-way switch.
What exactly does the kickback option do? The description is 5-way with "kickback switch" , but there is no mini toggle on the guitar. I take it the kickback switch is one of the 5 positions?
As you can see----I'm a bit confused (Ha). Could someone walk me thru the 5 positions, and explain the kickback option? Thanks much.
1. neck full.
2. neck kicked back(more single coily)
3. both full
3. with tone pulled both kicked back
4. bridge kicked back
5. bridge full.

Ahhh------so there's a pull tone knob option? Does not list that on the description.
Sounds like basically the same set up as a 2 humbucker Anderson. That's cool!
Oh, and while I'm on the subject of M PUPs---------how would you compare their output to your soapbar PUPs?
yes, very similar in function to a dual humbucker guitar.
the m1 has a bit less output than a p90. the tm3 should be pretty similar in output to a p90.

Clarifyin question: the TM2's do not split and therefore cannot be used in the "kick-back" application? However, the TM3's do split.
Is that the only difference between the TM2 and TM3 the wiring? any material impact on the tone - e.g. the TM2 lower output or more vintage tone?

This one had me thinking long and hard, too, as I'm awaiting a Classic with 3 Ms. I think the Classics have a mini-toggle, though, since strat players (named corey) would want to use the 2 & 4 positions.
split and kickback are two entirely different things. tm's can both be kicked back but we do not recommend splitting either.

so "kicked back" would refer to a "single-coil-ish" tone from the M's (the kick back is a passive circuit that rolls out some middle and a little bottom that makes it more single coil sounding while still being humcancelling.)
question then, TM2 or TM3 for more quack-y tone? And can both be wired for "kick back"?
correctomundo on kickback.
the tm2 is a natural nice balance with the m1. the tm3 would be used is you're looking for a big jump in vol and fatness. both actually quack pretty good when kicked back.
