Thanks to the excellent advice on taking photos of shiny, beautiful things, here are a couple of pics of my new Hollow Cobra S, 01-10-07A. I bought her from a fellow forum member, and she's in perfect condition. To make her mine, I did change out the tan pickup rings and switch knob to black ones. The pickup rings are ebony, and the same weight as the originals.

Maybe I should have used rosewood...but that's for another day!

What an awesome instrument!!!

Nice! The ebony rings look good. Once you've studied and practised your new photography skills, you can post a close up shot of the pickups/rings. :)

BTW, if you host the pictures on one of image hosting sites, you can display much bigger photos.

Thanks. I did buy a new camera to take the pics but for some reason the forum owners don't want us posting 2meg image files. Go figure.

Pardon my ignorance, but what site would you recommend for image posting? I can post some excellent closeups of the pickup rings (which turned out quite well, if I may say so!

Photobucket.com is the easiest to use I think. Post your picks there and then you just click and copy on the IMG Code line, and paste it to your post.

Here is an example:

Glad you're diggin' the HCS lofton - that is the most amazing neck I have ever experienced!!!

Love the 'dark' look too!

All the Best . . .

At long last, and thanks to lots of good technical advice, I can post a photo of my new "goth" Hollow Cobra S.

The colors are still a bit vivid, but the beauty of the grain comes through. And check out the rosewood neck...I love it!!!

BTW, the reference to "Goth" relates to my having changed the beige pickup rings to solid ebony, as well as changing to a black switch tip. And don't worry...the only other possible change would be the addition of Tom's signature to the back of the headstock.

Take care, all!

Kind of tough to be "Goth on a back deck surrounded by a flower bed! (LOL!)

Hey that is a REALLY cool guitar! Congrats!

Thank you, Dan. I absolutely love this guitar! I only hope that Tom & Co. don't mind my modifications. To me, the lighter pickup rings take away from the finish. Since I need to keep things pure, I'm going to keep the original rings in case a a future owner insists on the original configuration.

Oh, and about the flowers...you can't see 'em but just to the left of the guitar is a trumpet flower plant that is incredibly poisonous. Why we have it I don't know, except it smells really nice when in bloom. And thanks for the compliment!
