I got hired to do a pop record and they just emailed out one of the cooler tunes. It's not mixed, just a comp of the band so they could track vox. This is the Atom through my Egnater MOD50. I always use compression. And I always use a little delay in the loop. Bt other than that it's aaalllllll me (*and millions of dollars in room, mics, outboard gear, high end pre's, and a big SSL console in Burbank*).

Linkie is here. (http://www.dognmoon.com/anderson/FeelGood_FinishedVox.mp3) (9mb)

I thought it would be cool to build the solos to imply a climax (wink wink, nudge nudge, say no more...), and when they tracked the vox, they really ran with that metaphor. sheesh. Also, enjoy the guitars while they last. The songwriter is a keyboard player, his best friend (and the biggest personality on the session) was the keyboard player for the record, and it's getting mixed by a keyboard player. The result? The guitars will magically disappear from the master in favor of ebony and ivory (and 1's and 0's...). I'm not mad....

i'm very familiar with that mix strategy. we jokingly called it the more of jim less of tom style. jim's the keyboard and mixing guy.

jack parker and i have a standing exchange that happens when ever i see them play. he says"how's the mix?" i respond with " the guitars could be louder". he responds with"you always say that". i always do.

Nice sounds and playing. I also really like the female singer's voice quite a lot.
Not too sweet to give you cavities, but just sweet enough.

i agree though. every time i've seen them i've thought the guitars needed to come up a good bit.

Nice work, Zan. I appreciated the ascending guitar lead, and really think it worked well. I like that cut just the way it is...........

.............isn't there a law about gutting the guitar out of the mix???

Very tasty indeed!

Guitar needs to be brought up a bit though.

(Can we sign a "more guitar" petition?)

I would try that, but I'm afraid we'd write one thing, and they would read "Corey wants to be fired..."

LOL. When I saw them in February, Tom, I got to meet and talk with Jack a little. He was playing a PRS (endorsee) but sure has nice things to say about you! (I think those boys need to get ahold of a couple of CT Atoms myself...)

And I thought the guitars were loud enough, but that's just me...

Great stuff, Corey! Incredible guitar players are a dime a dozen, but very few understand how to let their playing serve the song (and not vice versa)...you've got that in spades. Very cool song too (not sure about the lyrics, but a great melody, groove and arrangement).

I find the Atom and the MOD50 are a match made in heaven (maybe that's why they sound so good played in church! ;) ).
