Serial Number Letters and What They Mean

I am just wondering what the letter after the serial number designates. I am thinking that it could be the order of build on a particular day, starting with A, and working through the alphabet, but that might not be correct. Mine is 04-18-97P

yup.
a=am, n=noon, p=pm,m=midnight. we use all days including weekends so we never run out. also special requests get used like j=jason and b=betty.
