Hi to all,

From Pretoria in South Africa.

I have just aquired a lovely Hollow Drop Top s/n 06-22-01P.

Body Finish - Shaded Cherry Edging with Binding
Body Wood - Koa Yop on Basswood
Neck Wood - Hard Rock Maple, Rosewood Fretboard
Neck Finish - Matching Headstock, Satin Back
Nutwidth - 1 11/16 in
Frets - Heavy
Back Shape -
Hardware - Chrome
Bridge - Vintage Tremelo
Pickguard -
Pickups - SD1R, SD1, H2+
Switching - Switcheroo, Vintage Voicing
Strings .010 - .046 Elixer Strings

So I thought I should join the Forum.
Hopefully I have managed to attach a picture of this lovely guitar to this message but I have to say that it looks even better "in the flesh" than it does in any pictures I have tried to take of it.
My little collection comprises the following:
2007 Gibson Les paul Standard
2007 Fender Baja Tele
2007 Yamaha AXP 900 Electro/Acoustic
2005 Fender American Deluxe Stratocaster
2001 Tom Anderson as described above
1997 Patrick Eggle Los Angeles Pro 22
1994 Patrick Eggle Los Angeles Plus
1993 Patrick Eggle Berlin Pro
Ibanez AK85 Jazz Box
Ibanez AW100CE Electro/Acoustic

I must say that this is a very friendly and informative Forum. Not many guitar Forums I have been too actually have the guy who built the guitars coming on-line to answer questions and make comments.
Yes I do realise that Orville and Leo are no longer with us!!!!
The only problem I can see from the comments on this Forum is that it would appear that I have started out on the slippery slope of replacing my guitar collection with Tom Andersons. Now this may not be a problem for you guys in the US of A but there are not too many of Tom's guitars over here in South Africa, and even fewer up for sale.

Anyway its great to be a member of the Forum.

Regards from Sunny South Africa

Welcome to the forum GaryMac. South Africa's on my list of places to visit (no Africa trips as of yet). Have you ever made it to False Bay to see the flying Great Whites?

**edit** Oh yeah, very nice TAG!

Hi Again from South Africa,
Well thanks to everyone for the very warm welcome.
Tom is there a prize for the "furthest away from us" award?
For SonicGator: you do realise that Great Whites have great difficulty differentiating between seals and humans in the water!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Try to come to South Africa its a fabulous place for a holiday, you would truly love it.

As far as "African TAG's" are concerned, there are a few over here, the dealer did bring in a small number. We are however a very small market and therefore have difficulty turning over the numbers of guitars required to keep US guitar manufacturers interested in supplying agencies over here, especially the higher end products.

Its also a bit difficult buying from guitar stores in the States, they seem to think South Africa is an extension to the Nigerian Scam Market and tend to shy away from dealing with us. Then there are the shipping costs, the import duties the VAT etc. etc.

Once again thanks for the warm welcome, I really appreciate it.

Hey Gary,

First, welcome to the forum. This is a very civil, and imformative place to visit!!

Now, I must warn you.........YOU ARE IN BIG TROUBLE

About two months ago, just as you have, I purchased my first Anderson. Just as you have done, my first Anderson was a Koa HDT. Look here for pictures;

Well, the Anderson slippery slope is very real. I've found it very enjoyable being on that slippery slope, however, having just added an Atom CT to my family!!

Be sure to keep us posted as you add to your Anderson contingent!!

Or your FIFTH! I just went back up to five. Have owned twelve at one time or another and as many as nine at once.

Welcome. This forum really is a step above the BEST of the rest.

Welcome to the Anderson Forum!

I'm waiting for my 5th Anderson (second custom order), so it's a slippery slope indeed.

I live in the northern part of Norway (a city called Tromsų), north of the Artic Circle. At summer the sun is up 24h a day, and for two months in the winter it's gone. I MAY win the "most northern" TAG player on this forum?

Fortunally there's quite a few well known (in Norway at least) Norwegian players that swears to TAG, although we don't have any dealers here. A hint to Tom that his guitars are well known here and are highly regarded, but no dealers and still selling quite well, I guess. I have had three and are now down to two, my brother has also had three and are now down to two. And I've seen several TAG's out live in this small city of a population of only 70 000. We see them very often on Norwegian TV as well.

that does sound like the farthest north! perhaps players there feel connected to my norwegian heritage. i still have some distant relations there.

That's unreal. I've made it as far north as Narvik 3 times, and the last thing I would expect to see there would be a TAG! Beautiful part of the world, that's for sure. Enjoy!

Hi to all again,

I have attached pics of the Patrick Eggles for Dannopelli.

Just to keep on the Forums good side I have also added a new pictute of the Tom Anderson.

The only redeeming factor about the "slippery slope" is the limited number of TAG's over here. They do not come up for sale very often and, as Tom said earlier, "we have only shipped a handful of guitars to your land".

So I will have to pick up another next time I am over Stateside!!!!!

Cheers

Gary
