I highly recommend the superdelay by empress effects. It's a great pedal and you set 8 presets.

I really like the T Rex Replica. There are a lot of good delays out there and a lot of trash too. You get what you pay for.

A lot of people like the Nova. I have one and it is REALLY a great buy for what you get. The manual is goofy, but you can get past it in about an hour. Just be sure to actually read the WHOLE manual before you start.

Boss DD-7. It is basically a DD-6 with the addition of an analogue mode, modulated delay, external tap tempo input, and a 40 second looper.

For pure analogue, the MXR Carbon Copy is very nice too.

i just switched back to the dd20 from the nova. in the band situation the sound wasn't really better for me and the dd20 is so much easier to use live. and it has eighth notes!!!

Hey FFOOG.....so, you're not interested in larger units, like the H&K Replex, or the Fulltone TTE?? They are BIG.............size wise and cost wise. They are, however, really really good, too.

btw....I live near Lehighton. Go figure!

I had a Replex years ago but the sound volume jumps were a bit much ....The Boss is ok but I cant fit it on my board so I need something a little smaller ..

The DD-7 is basically a smaller version of the DD-20 without the presets, and minus some of the extended features - like dual delay. If that's what you're after, you should try one out. They are a recent release from Boss.

IMO, it sounds pretty much identical, or maybe intangibly a bit better than its older brother.

If you're after something that sounds great analogue-wise, but in a small pedal formfactor, then the Mad Professor Deep Blue and the Jacques Prisoner sound very nice. The delays are a little short on these for my liking, that's why I went for the MXR Carbon Copy which has a much longer delay before it starts sounding overly ghetto.

Near Lehighton, in the boonies.

I just got the Carl Martin Echotone. It's great. Definitely worth a try.

Guys just keep them coming ....After reading the Nova thread I think I am going to pass on it ....the MXR gets gets good review as well Carl Martin and Mad Professor

Earthquaker Disaster Transport or Subdecay Echobox any thoughts on these ?? A retailer recommended them ....I really don't to complicate my life any further ..............

I think its down to the following :T-Rex Replica
Mad Professor Deep Blue
Earthquaker Disaster Transport
Subdecay Echobox

I am stuck with a 3 1/2 x 8 footprint on my board so the Boss doesn't fit anyfurther input would be appreciated

I keep coming back to the DD20 for the same reason. I run it in BPM mode (instead of millseconds), get the tempo from the drummer (most gigs I do are played to a click), and dial in the eights or dotted eighths or whatever.

It's very easy to use on the fly that way.

I'm using the Timefactor delay most of the time but I also have this setup going on! Of course not in the same setup! I have a Carbon Copy inline with a DD-3. This gives me the brightness of a digital delay going into the warmer repeats of analog delay. Setting the dd-3 short no repeats and the CC with a long delay and a few repeats.

I've heard only good things about the Mad Professor Deep Blue.

I'm building a small ( few pedal ) board and the Mad Prof may be my delay, not cheap but worth a try. Check out the You Tube review for at the link below.

That one sounds great! The price: $338.00 not so great!

Although I'm not a big Digitech fan this pedal has spiked my curiosity.

Unless you have a space issue on your pedalboard, for that price I'd get the TC Nova Delay.

Eventide Time Factor. I've owned all of them except the Echoczar, and the Time factor is superior in all respects IMO.

I'm using the Line 6 DL-4 right now but I'm not sure if it's just way more than I need. I really like to use dotted eighth and it's not really that simple with this pedal.:(

DL-4 sounds great. But the size, 3 preset limit, and dotted eights are the main reasons I got rid of mine after having one for years. I always had to set dotted 1/8's by ear. For some bizarre reason they left that subdivision out.

I've tried a number of delay pedals and am (hopefully) done looking for a while. I've got a Diamond Memory Lane 1 (w/ 1/8th note tap switch) used for $380. The Diamond Memory Lane 2 is VERY expensive (used are going for over $500 right now), but this is a great pedal and the new version has the 1/8th note tap tempo built in. You might try and find a ML-1 with the 1/8th note mod, but they don't show up very often (I haven't even seen one since I bought mine back in March).

For modeling pedals, I agree with Tom that you can't do much better than the DD-20 (haven't tried the DD-7). At $180 brand new, it's about the best bang for your buck I can imagine. If you do try the DD-7, be sure it has the high cut tone knob like the DD-20 so you can soften the highs (this is just like the Analogman Hi-cut mod but rather than 3 preset levels, you get a knob). I think the Line 6 DL-4 has slightly better sounds but it has a bit of volume loss when you switch it on that I don't like.
