Let me just say before I start... I know, I know pics are needed.... They'll be up as soon as I can shoot some. Now that that's out of the way....
I got my new Goodsell Super 7 Plus amp last week and had a chance to play it this Sunday at my church. Great little amp! It was on order for almost a month and the anticipation was killing me.
The amp is very light weight which is perfect for my practice location (up a flight of stairs). It's got a very nice pine cab that typically comes with a Jensen, but mine is currently holding a G12H30. Since my amp has the added verb and trem, Richard had to use the chassis from one of his Super 17 amps which allowed the use of a larger magnet for the speaker. The regular Super 7's can only take the small magnet of the Jensen. It came with a Goodsell RGM (his take on the Greenback I think) which he thought sounded the best of the speakers he tried out in the amp. So far I've tried a Celestion Gold (which was really buzzy) and the current G12H30 which is ok. I'm waiting on an Eminence Cannabis Rex to replace the Celestion Anniversary. I've heard some great things about that speaker.
The amp has a 2W/7W switch that is great for playing quietly at home and loud enough to keep up with my drummer (not too heavy handed) at my church. The amp also has a clean/crunch switch that is footswitchable. When using my alder DTC with SA1 pups in the neck and middle the clean channel stays relatively clean up until around 2-3 o'clock. It starts growing hair before noon and by the time it gets to 4-5 o'clock it starts to break up real nice. With hotter pups the amp breaks up much faster. My Hollow Cobra gets it growling a lot faster. Even at 3-4 o'clock it can stay clean enough to play some nice clean passages on mellower tunes with my DTC if I don't dig in much. When you dig in it will respond accordingly.
My Super 7 "Plus" is designated as such because of the added reverb and trem. The trem is footswitchable and sounds great. The verb is always on and also sounds nice. It doesn't overpower but still adds some nice depth.
For a little amp, this thing sounds big. It has very good clean and semi-clean tones, but can still grind nicely when dimed. It's just loud enough for my purposes and the size/weight is a big plus. I'm getting a nice clamshell gig bag for it from Studio Slips. With that and the new speaker I should be all set.
Now for the disclaimer. I'm not affiliated with Goodsell amps in any way, but have been impressed with the personal attention and general "niceness" of the builder of these amps. He's been willing to work with me and makes a great amp at very reasonable prices. I've had a lot of nice amps that have come and gone but this one is a keeper.
