I'm about to buy an used Andy (cannot try it out beforehand) and the neck profile is the Tom Anderson Standard. How do you compare it to, say, a PRS regular?

I believe the TA Standard is also called the .030 Oversize. It is very similar to the PRS Wide Fat neck IMHO. It is a tad bit bigger than the '62 Roundback which is also very comfortable and substantial.

I had a Drop Top with the Standard carve, and it was not quite as large as a '62 Roundback Classic I tried. And I always thought the .030 oversize was .030 larger than the Standard neck profile.
I could certainly be wrong on all of this.

You may be right but when I read
• NECK BACKSHAPE: – +.030 T/A Standard
from the Anderson website, I think that the +030 is the standard???
I could have this all wrong too...
I have played both the 030 and the '62 and know what they feel like and could compare them to PRS nex.

So I did some digging and found...
• NECK BACKSHAPE: – T/A Standard
Which does lead me to believe my "naming" understanding was incorrect. I now assume that the +.030 T/A Standard neck is the same shape as the standard but a bit larger.....that makes more sense than me assuming that .030 WAS the T/A Standard.
Ariel....my apologies....I now have to say with 100% certainty that I HAVE NO IDEA.:D

Tom Anderson offers 3 neck shapes, 1. Tom Anderson Standard, 2. 62 Round Back, 3. V Neck. Along with these neck shapes they offer an increase in depth by +.030, +.070 and +.100 of an inch.
Ariel, I believe that the Tom Anderson Standard is just a little slimmer around the first few frets then that of a PRS standard. It's a very comfortable neck in my opinion...
Hope this helps... John P...

What John said.
From the catalog:
Tom Anderson Standard: the most popular neck profile requested, has a slim. sleek silhouette with little depth change from nut to 12th fret, available in two different nut widths, 1 5/8" and 1 11/16".
62 Round Back: slightly deeper than the Tom Anderson Standard but with quite a bit of depth change from nut to 12th fret. Offered in the same nut widths as the Tom Anderson Standard.
50's V: is a V back shape. Offered in two depths, small and large - Only available in 1 5/8" nut width.
Cobra Neck Shapes - Being a different guitar, Cobra's have their own specific neck profiles to complement the shortened scale length.
Cobra Standard: slightly thicker than the Tom Anderson Standard profile, only available in 1 11/16" nut width.
Cobra Tom Anderson Standard: same as Tom Anderson Standard profile, only available in 1 11/16" nut width.
62 Cobra: a 62 Round Back neck with 1 11/16" nut width.

Has anybody measured the 1st/12th fret depth of the standard neck (or obtained the specs from TA)? Many manufacturers will list these figures as it helps give an indication of how a neck might feel compared to others. It's a bit strange to talk about "standard +.03" without knowing to what .03" is being added.
