hi all any idea if there is a vast difference between the 62 Roundback neck profile offered by TA and the TA Standard neck profile. any idea what the measurements are ?
i am planning to order a classic but was a little confused about the neck profile.
i have a classic with the 62 roundback was curious to know about the TA standard.
thanks
warm regards

This might help.

click on neck shapes.

I personally favor the 62 Roundback 1 5/8ths (now known as the 62 vibe) it has a deeper backshape compared to the TA Standard (Now known as the even-taper) but I have no problems playing both neck shapes.

My take is exactly the same as John's. If I were custom-ordering, I'd get 1 5/8's with 62 roundback, but I certainly wouldn't pass up a TA standard either.

i'm the opposite, i like the standard carve, i have one dt with a .30 over, and that is as big as i'd get. The roundback was way too big for me, so i sold off the classic. If i could find a 3 burst classic, standard carve with va's and 1 1/16ths i'd like to buy it... probably have to order one sooner or later.

I very much prefer the 60s Vibe neck (formerly 62 roundback), with 1 11/16" nut. In fact, if I were ordering again today I'd probably get 60s Vibe oversized by .020 or so. The TA standard is way too small for my big hands, plus I just like the way the 60s Vibe feels and plays...

I've got two Andys ... one is 1 11/16" 62' roundback & the other is 1 11/16" standard + 0.30. I like the latter better, but either is fine.

The TA Standard is too thin for me.

Here's a thought ... I think I remember reading on the forum that the guys will recarve your neck to a smaller profile if you want for only $100. If you get a 62' Roundback, you'll have a plenty big neck that they can carve down if it turns out to be too big.

I think a bigger issue is do you want 1 5/8" or 1 11/16" nut? I have to have the bigger one as I have large fingers.

I have the 60's Vibe on everything. For about 7 months I had one with the standard neck and found it way to thin...made my hand cramp up.

Here is the catch....I don't have large hands.
