Which one and why? I can't seem to get this one right. Thanks for your input.

I'm loving my MI Audio Blue Boy Deluxe - but the Blues Pro is also a fantastic low gain box. The BBD is great because you can dial it in to get the right amount of bass/mid/treble to match the guitar with the amp.

Right now it's the RC booster. It adds a bit of grit but not much at all. I also was using my old 3 knob Menatone Red Snapper to add some grit, but that pedal can get a bit trebly at times.
I really enjoy the tones of the Timmy or Barber LTD Silver. They each have a little different voicing but both are great.

Four knob Red Snapper. The Cut and Bite controls are very flexible. I leave them around noon. Drive on low and volume as needed. It's a nice pedal sammiched between a Carr Rambler and my TAGs. The amp oozes clean and the pedal brings on a just enough breakup and light OD for me.
The RS juices up the DRRI I got last week too.

You can put me on the RC Booster user list. This pedal add a little life into any setup.

MI Audio Blues Pro is my current #1.
Really like the G2D Cream Tone too. Or channel 1 of a Barber Burn Unit or Tone Pump.
Lots of good boxes to choose from.
I use the RC Booster for soloing (it's post OD, in a loop with a delay pedal -- so whether the basic tone is clean, mild OD, or heavy OD, the RC kicks it up for leads).

Lots to choose from. But, I'll second the MI Audio Blue Boy Deluxe. I have/use one. Second would be a Direct Drive from Dave Barber, which I've owned in the past. Only "negative" is the somewhat larger size of the enclosure.
Good luck,
Ray K.

I would pick the RC booster-that pedal has absolutely no coloration at all and just enough push. I also like the OCD on LP mode-very natural sounding overdrive!

I've used the rc booster kicking into the ocd and it is really amazing how natural it sounds. Used in the studio as well. I find that even though my amp has great lead channel, the rc and ocd complement each other very well.

Thanks guys, great suggestions. Several I had never thought of before. Now if someone wouldn't mind loaning me everything mentioned except the RC that I already own (about 9 pedals) so that I can evaluate which one would be that "one" that I need............................(sound of crickets chirping). Anybody..................OK back to Ebay I go. I guess I'll start with the least expensive and work my way up.
Thanks again fellow Anderson junkies.

What's wrong with just cranking up your amp until it breaks up??? :o
I get wonderful tones from my Cornford Harlequin and a Cobra.

Mi Audio BBD is great pedal for my taste but maybe too much HI-FI sounding, I prefer my DBA Interstelar Overdriver with Master for overdrive sounds it's unbelievable with my Telecaster.

I use a Keeley mod Boss Blues Driver... I really love it especially with a tele. It can pack a real punch if you turn it up but I get a nice, just breaking-up sound that is very dynamic.

i'm partial to the low gain direct drive
what is this you speak of? didn't see it on the barber site...
it a newish one. they made me a double pedal with a regular and low gain dd in it, burn unit size. the lgdd has the character of the dd but with less gain. it holds together real nice and even when pushing an already pushed amp the low end still stays nice and tight.

so is the lgdd very different from the ltd?

lgdd = low gain direct drive ???
lgdd = low gain direct drive. correct
to me it is different from the ltd. it feels like the lgdd cuts through better and is more defined than the black ltd i have. i've heard others say the ltd sr is also very good at that. the lgdd doesn't have a mid hump to my ears so it works really well for an aggressive rhythm tone.

I use one to push the front end of a fender blues deville and it works really nice from warm clean low gain up to serious crunch
More of a boost than an OD pedal but I've used a Z Vex SHO for 10 years now and nothing has been able to bump it from my pedal board.

Having trouble locating the LGDD. Can't even find one on the Barber website. Any suggestions?

They say its in stock on the web page.
I just picked up my Supro Thunderbolt from the shop after a filter cap job. While I was there I tried a few OD's.
Walked out with an Xotix BB Plus. :) Lots of options and true bypass.
If you've got a quality tube amp, and you love it's tone, the best OD pedal I've found is The Klon. It's the cleanest OD I've ever experienced. It will not really color your amps own inherent tone. I put a Klon between me and virtually any amp I'm using.

Bill Finnegan is a great guy, and makes a top quality pedal, made to last.
+1 on the MI Audio BB Deluxe

I have a "creamtone" pedal which is made in New Zealand by G2d http://www.g2d.co.nz
Its a fantastic pedal , very transparent and has a boost for solos and the back panel can be removed exposing three switches. Here you can choose a low/high drive , more bottom end. I use it in low drive and you can get a fantastic "pushed" clean sound. It's the pedal I couldn't live out - the high drive is awesome as well.
There are audio examples on the website.
John Mayer has one !

Just got my LTD Black today. Must say, very impressive pedal. I can't find a tone I don't like on it. I think I may need two of them though. I love the gain at about 11 o'clock for a nice bluesy low gain tone, but dime out the gain and this thing rocks. Very harmonic, musical pedal.
Thanks for all the cool ideas.

I used the Analogman King of Tone for several years (I've owned 3 and bought my first one back in 2003), but the Blackstone Mosfet OD beat it for me. The Blackstone has a lot of available gain, but when I roll back the volume it cleans up REALLY well.
I play in church exclusively and since putting the Blackstone on my board 2 months ago, every time I've played, I've left it on the entire time and just controlled the gain with my volume knob. With the guitar volume on 10, the Blackstone's gain is over the top. With the volume knob Rolled back to 5, it's almost exactly my clean tone with the pedal off and guitar volume on 10. And that's just the yellow channel. There's still the red channel for a great lead boost and tonal change.
