Hey,
I recently saw an episode of the Science Channels' "How It's Made" where they go to the Godin factory and make an electric guitar. It was very interesting to watch but there's a segment where they show a tech checking the relief of the neck/fretboard with a special tool from a Canadian tool maker which looked like a high tech version of what Stew-Mac sells. I wish I could remember the manufacturer's name but it was a wierd name.
Anyone else see this?

you mean the gauge? that is a very cool tool. when we started using those it took all the guess work out of adjusting during the building process. no more optical illusion from the wood grain. you know exactly how many thousandths of bow you have. i love the fret installing and cutting tool.

i love the fret installing and cutting tool.
I'd like to sneak some SS wire on there and see what happens. ;)
i think the cutting tool would handle it fine. that next step where they sand the edge would heat them up red hot and set the neck on fire though:eek:

There is a company in Canada called 'Lee Valley'. There have quite a collection of wood tools amongst other neat things. They have tools manufactured for them, (and may be owned by them) by 'Veritas'.

I checked the Lee Valley site and did not see the neck gauge or anything like it. Anyone know the source, by chance? Thanks!
we made our own, but stewmac does sell one.
