After a weird problem with my MOD50 and several months of Bruce having it to try to figure it out, I've got my beloved MOD50 back. Realized how much I missed it. This amp is just amazing!

I was playing with the VX and COD modules again...incredible tones! These and the BMAN are my favorites. I also have the TD and SL modules which are also really good. Next stop: ERECT.

I'm really considering selling all my pedals, the amp's overdriven tones are THAT good, even at low volumes.

Great stuff!

it's a good'un. haven't really used any od pedals for the past year since i got the mod 50. i re did my pedalboard last week to add a couple od's in case i want to do a grab and go with a smaller lighter amp(yes light is good for us old guys). i was pleasantly surprised when i tried to use only one channel of the mod50 and use pedals for gain. the amp works really well with pedals too. i'm still dlx and sl1 on mine.

Well I now have a G-System on the way (thanks to akivisuals!), so I can't wait to see how it works for channel switching and routing the time-based effects (only ones I really use) through the effects loop. Should work great for my needs, and then I should be able to ditch my pedalboard altogether and just stick with the G-System floor unit.

i have a buddy who uses the g-system with the mod 50 and it's pretty sweet. he does the whole loop thing and even throws in a couple of additional pedals through the g-system loops.

has anyone tried the nova system yet?

nope, just played a weekend with my new way too big pedalboard so how could i possibly simplify? our drummer asked how many pedals i really used. so i explained that this was all the junk in one place so i could just leave it at church and not have to haul stuff. i made it my mission to use as many as possible this weekend. used all but one! boy were my feet tired.

That's why you got to go with a G-system Tom! ;) I just sold mine to Matt to go the opposite route with a pedalboard! Like you, I don't like to cart a ton of stuff back and forth to practice and to my church so I'm cutting down to a small pedalboard and combo amp and am on the list for an Axe-Fx. That would be the ultimate in versatility and an easy gear haul. No more heavy racks and cabs for me! :o

the cheaper and friendlier solution for me is to just leave the stuff at church. the learning curve alone is enough to scare me away from other solutions. i still don't have presets saved in my nova delay:o besides, there's still nothing like a nice amp

I have very little interest in multi-effects, actually, and will likely use the effects side of the G-System sparingly. What I'm more interested in is being able to use the few pedals I do without having a big pedal board, plus be able to store the amp channel switching into a preset along with the few effects that TC does so well that I use at times (like chorus, delay, etc.). I think the biggest problems with most multi-effects units is overuse. Tone gets saturated with lots of unneccesary stuff, and then when you plug direct into an amp, you get that 'pure' amp tone and miss it. So I'll use it mostly for the switching (particularly storable/presets switching) and only sparingly on the effects.

I hear ya. If I could leave my gear at church I would, but alas, we meet in a middle school auditorium. I get nauseous when I think of a bunch of pre-teens twiddling knobs on my gear.... I'm not a huge tweaker either but can tweak just enough to make a few presets that work for me. The G-system wasn't bad at all to program, but programming a G-major would be like reading the manual in dutch. From what I understand the Axe-Fx isn't all that bad to program.

Tom, with all those pedal changes, most folks thought that you were probably dancing instead of looking for tone.

Guys what is the mod50? I would be interested in checking one out. I am still trying to find another amp to add to my collection for my oh so fragile and very real 1963 Fender Vibroverb. I love the amp but it is valuable and I get worried gigging with it sometimes. I just tried several Divided by 13 AMP's - the combos are incredible. There is a chime in that amp that is the best I have ever heard. The other amp I like alot is the Fuchs - Overdirve Supreme 30 watt.

egnater mod 50. you can google them. it's a modular amp that does many things very well. perfect gigging amp for me. the /13's are wonderful single sound amps.
