I saw him live, three piece, and its not possible to do what he does. Not for 30 seconds, much less an entire set. Very musical.

I have heard Sonny Landreth tyrough my favourite, Mark Knopfler, and he is amazing slide guitarist! He also have spesial tuning gears on some of his guitars that automaticly changes tunings!! he plays with amazing style with a slidebar and uses his fingers for singelnotes at one time.

Saw him last summer up close in Dallas & at the Clapton Crossroads a couple of years ago. Truly amazing. I've been following his music for a while. Funny, though, I've always liked the tone he has gotten from the Firebirds the best. I think he has switched to strats almost exclusively.

Landreth rules!!!! I first heard him on John Hiatt's "Slow Turning" album. I never though Hiatt could follow up the slide work Ry Cooder did on "Bring the Family" with another guy. Boy, was I wrong! :-) Cooder's slide solo on "Lipstick Sunset" (from BTF) and Landreth's solo on "Feels Like Rain" (from ST) are two of the most gorgeous slide solos ever. I'd have to flip a coin to decide which one I like best. Sonny's done some other great sessions in the past and he just keeps getting better.

Another great, but little known Landreth solo is on Marshall Crenshaw's cover of Richard Thompson's "Valerie" on his "Good Evening" CD. Crenshaw and Landreth trade off AND match solos (along with Graham Maby doubling them as well on bass) and its awesome!!!

Love his tone, LOVED his two tunes on the 2007 Crossroads and love his singing and songwriting. "Meet Your New Landlord" is a great tune.

Saw him a couple of years back at BB Kings in a double header with Johnny A. Both tremendous talents, though my personal preference was with Johnny A.

He does some amazing stuff. It's almost a shame he's never hit "the big time."
