Late to the game I admit. But just got hold of a copy of the CGT's "Rock's the West" and "An Opening Act - On Tour w/ King Crimson".

OMG. Whoever said that 3 guys on acoustic guitars CAN'T shred never heard CGT.

Toccata and Fugue in Dm, Misirlou, Walk Don't Run, Pictures at an Exhibition, Good Bad & Ugly, and Bohemian Rhapsody, to name a few are not only harmonically pleasurable to listen to, they out and out ROCK.

OK, I'm a neophyte when it comes to acoustic music. But for those who haven't heard, do yourself a favor and check these guys out.

Do they use Fripp's New Standard Tuning?

I might have to pick that up. Sounds interesting.

As for 3 guys shredding on acoustic guitars..... Dimeola, McLaughlin, Delucia... amazing players. Friday night in San Francisco is a killer album.

I have an interesting CGT story....

A friend of mine operated a gallery and listening room (100 seats) in Michigan, hosting a number of really cool acts over the years. CGT was schedule to play in early 2007 when the owner of the gallery was tragically killed. All of the shows were cancelled.

While having dinner with a co-band member that same week, he said "Why don't we just host the show." He has held several house concerts at his home in the past. We could donate the profit from the show to a memorial fund in the gallery owners name.

So... we contacted CGT's management and they were on board. In a little less than a week we had to pull this show together. Mid-week before the show, CGT's manager calls and requests permission for CGT to bring another band member along..... Tony Levin.

The guys showed up to a packed house and played a two hour gig.... it was great. Great musicians as well as great people for playing a "house concert."

We raised a decent amount of money to contribute to the memorial fund and had a personel concert, with Tony Levin as well.

It was awesome.....

We saw them warm up for King Crimson a half dozen years or so ago. They were huge!! Was great to meet and greet after the show, they signed their CD's if you wanted.
