I have two great sounding P90-style single coils that fit in an M1/M2 slot for sale. These were custom made for me by Peter Biltoft at http://vintagevibeguitars.com a few months ago back.
The humbucker is a Fralin 9K (http://www.fralinpickups.com/humbuckers.asp) that I modified with a new base plate to fit in an Atom humbucker spot.
Here's a clip that I made with my former Atom using this set of pickups:
http://home.comcast.net/~g.mctaggart/p90.mp3
I'm asking $120 for the pair of P90-style pickups, and $80 for the humbucker. For the whole set, I'll take $180. Continental U.S. only, and Paypal only to a verified address. (My wife's Ebay i.d. is "miafrunt" if you want to read recommendations, etc.) All prices exclude shipping.
Here are the pickups:

All I got to say is you gotta be BIG TIME to buy a $3000 guitar and then commence to swapping out the pickups!!
:p

I guess you don't want to buy them then? :)
It's all in the quest for tone. . . nothing wrong with swapping out pickups if the ones that are in there aren't doing it for you.
If you listen to the clip, you'd be able to tell that I'm not "BIG TIME". :)

P 90 question, How does the use of your p-90's affect the kick back circuit? Do you have any speculation on how your p 90's would work/blend with a m3 in bridge? thanks
a question for you gary. those always looked more like strat style pickups to me. are those alnico slugs with a pretty tall coil? p90's are short coils with 2 bar magnets on the bottom. i would expect them to sound very different than p90's. just askin'.

I believe Gary is on vacation, so when he comes back he can jump in here.
I did get a chance to play the Atom loaded with these replacement pickups however, and I'd say they have a little of both worlds. Bigger tone than a single coil, more refined than a true P90, is my best memory of them.
I had never heard of the guy who made them, but they impressed the heck out of me. Don't remember the exact specs, but I'm sure Gary will have them.
Hope he found some sun while on vacation!;)

Sorry I'm so tardy. :)
Tom, they are alnico. The overall height of the pickup is ~0.7". I'm tempted to send them to you to play with. :) Also, I should take more pictures of what they look like out of the guitar.
Mystroe, they don't sound as dark as a P90 to my ears. I'm not sure how they would mix with an M3 since I haven't tried an m3. I basically had these made because I felt that the M1- lacked the high end of a true single coil. These fit the bill for me, except I still felt that the guitar was lacking some low end that I would want for a mahogany, short-scale guitar. I suspect the lacking lows had more to do with the guitar and less to do with the pickups from doing unplugged comparisons with other guitars. These are fatter than strat singles, but have more high end than an M1- or M1. I suspect that the kickback circuit would push these more towards the strat single end of the spectrum, but my guitar didn't have the kickback circuit, so I'm only guessing.

I have never come across a pickup wound by Pete Biltoft that didn't impress the heck out of me. Pete is a gem of a man, and a tone connoisseur to boot. Great guy, great pickups, and great prices too. Can't beat that combo with a stick.
I published an interview with Pete a while back...
