At the moment I am feeding my guitar (Mono) through a VOX LE and from the Vox directly into my sound card. I am feeding the Piezo from the Stereo jack straight into my soundcard. The blend when recording is great however the the sound from the Piezo is a little shall we say flat and I think I need to put it through a DI box. Anyone using the LR Baggs Para Acoustic DI and if so is it the best answer to my problem. Any other suggestions would help before I go out and get one. First guitar I have had with a piezo pup on so sorry if I am asking the obvious.
This for recording in my studio directly into Cakewalk Sonar 7.02 PE via an Edirol UA-25 interface.
Thanks in advance,
Gerry

I've done something like this with my Yamaha AG Stomp, which was discontinued years ago, but if you can find one used, BUY IT! It does some "modeling" to make a piezo sound more like a miked-up acoustic. If the mix is dense, I can even record with it, although I generally mike my Wechter for that.
Boss has some processors that do something similar which I've briefly tried, and they are real good, too. Just eqing the signal is, imho, not enough, but a great start, and might be enough in a mix.
There's three AG Stomps on ebay as of this morning.

Thanks Pietro are you saying that the AG Stomps will do the job just as well. There is also an LR Baggs Para Acoustic DI on E Bay. Bottom line which do you recommend I go for

I think that the AG Stomp offers WAY more then the Baggs unit. The mic modeling is HUGE. I suspect the eq might sound better on the Baggs, but the AG Stomp consistently gives me an amazing acoustic sound.
I'd go with the AG Stomp. BUT... NEVER plug a power supply into it other than the Yamaha one it comes with!
Have you also checked the Aura? I have one on loan from a friend but haven't had time to check it out. Some have reported GREAT results with it, but it seems hard to use.

OK I'll for the AG Stomp Box. I have just pushed it through a J Station which works great but authentic acoustic sounds are not really its forte. No never heard about the Aura but I'll check it out.
Thanks again my friend great help.

The baggs is basically a preamp with awesome EQ. The AG stomp is a processor - if you're direct to PC recording, the AG will give you more versatility. Yamaha makes awesome stuff, don't have an AG, but use the Baggs live - it really shines more for PA live work.

Thanks and I suppose that is my dilema as I only record in my studio and do not play live. I already have two processors or as they are often called Modellers being the VOX LE and J Station, both are superb in my opinion. Also after I have recorded a track I have some great plug ins that can almost tie a knot in anything I record. Bottom line the idea of the Baggs appeals and after listening to the sound demos of the Yamaha it does as well.
Now who said "He who hesitates is lost"

I don't know who said that- he hesitated and now they can't find him.
I assume your piezo out is powered already - if you've got a 9v onboard, then it is.
The baggs, in that capacitiy, really just EQ's stuff - well
If you love the J station and the Vox - now you'll have another box that does the same thing - and that doesn't even count the plugins which probably kick the crap out of the modellers.
You MAY think about replacing the bridge for a whole new source. If you've got a Fishman, go Baggs Xbridge, or vice versa.

Hmm I think I'll give the Yamaha AC Stomp a miss as you are right apart from the J Station and the Vox Tonelab LE I also have a Tonelab LOL Filling my little studio up with more modellers is not a good idea. I think I am chasing the holly grail as in a piezo pup is not going to give me an acoustic guitar no matter what all the blurb says. Maybe that is why Tom has dropped them !! It does give me extra tone options but acoustic guitar it isn't. I just mailed JR Baggs to see if I can put the Para Acoustic DI in line before going into the Vox Tonelab LE just to tweak the eq before anything else.
Say one thing though I am over the moon with the Baggs tremolo and have it set up floating and it stays in tune a dream.
Onwards and upwards.

Just for grins, today, I very carefully A/Bed the Fishman Aura with that Yamaha AG Stomp, because I had a friend that was going to sell me the Aura for a real good price. For me, there was no contest. For ease of use AND for sound, the AG Stomp blew the Aura away. I'm even more an advocate for it now.

Stop Pietro you are giving me major GAS LOL You can hear the whammy bar in action on Dentro De Mi http://www.gerrycooper.com/songs
I'm no great shakes on the guitar but like to think I get a reasonable tone. Using the single pup next to the bridge on this track. Position 2 on the five way switch playing through the Vox tonelab LE. Boys and their toys.

Gerry,
The "acoustic" sound on that track has a very "direct" sound... BUT... imho, it really works just fine there.
I liked it. A little mellow for first thing in the morning, but nice...

If only Pietro the lead guitar is the TAG but the acoustic is in fact a Harp taken off my Yamaha Motif-Rack ES. If I could get that sort of tone off the piezo I would be happy but I can't get anything close to it.
A bit mellow LOL I am so lay back I fall over sometimes:)
