I was browsing the bay tonight and saw this Cobra for auction. The guy claims it's one of Tom's personal guitars because it has special "clover" inlays. Is it one of your old guitars Tom? How did it sound with that rosewood neck? Inquiring minds want to know! :D

I had owned that cobra for a few months (longer than most ;) )but sold it down the road
to help fund my spec atom order. I believe Jay on the forum had owned it prior?
Great sounding cobra with the rosewood neck. It compliments the
mahogany body well to acheive that thicker cobra tone.

Here's some info Tom provided to me back a few years back-

..."that one is the only african rosewood neck we have made. it is a bit heavier than the indian counterparts. that guitar was part of a series of guitars that i made for myself during my search for "atom". i probably made about 6 or 8 cobra's before coming up with the shape for atom"...

The four dot inlay markers are indeed specific to Tom from that time frame. Later he went to special serial numbers (10-TOM-06). As enr1co stated, I was the second owner of that guitar. Can't recall why I let it go, but it was for a different Anderson I know that. GAS is a fickle lover. :) I've had two rosewood neck Cobras and both of them played very fast, but were a touch glassier (how's that for vague) than a standard Cobra tone. In my search for a more organic, woody tone, I ventured on to other Andersons during my quest. That is probably why I'm not a fan of the solid rosewood necks. Played killer though.

Hope that helps. It's been a while since that one was in my hands.

all of the above is true. that guitar did have a really fast attack which i attributed to the neck. i'm with jay personally on the rosewood necks. i like the slower squishier(that's a luthiers term) feel of mahogany necks.

FWIW...I know that Ebay seller from three other forums and he is a real stand-up guy.
