After changing the strings on my drop top the other day I noticed something. With the original 10's the back of the bridge was raised just slightly off the body. With the 9's that are on it now the bridge appears to be resting flat against the body. Is this normal? Do the lighter strings mean I should loosen the springs up a little?

The springs on your guitar were set for 10s, 9s are lighter gage and you'll need to adjust the springs on your guitar for the 9s and you'll also need to check your intonation.

It really depends where you want your tremolo to to be set up. Some people prefer a floating trem, some don't. There is no right or wrong here.
Andersons do ship with the trem on the body, and yes string gauge can make a difference due to tension.
