Hey guys. I just found an old drop top at GC online under used instruments that has the old Fender style headstock. It's a pretty guitar...they want 3k for it though.

3k!?!?

I just paid $1860 for my 2000 model. (african rosewood fretboard too!)

I've noticed that it seems guitar center doesn't have a lot of "fair" prices. It's either one extreme or the other. I've gotten some good deals out of there and other times I look at the price and just think they can't be serious.

You've just got to tell them that that's a ridiculous price. The Atlanta GC on Druid Hills Rd had a used Avatar Vintage 2x12 cab that was in marginal cosmetic shape listed at the exact same price as a new one direct from Avatar cabs. I pointed this out to them and they dropped the price $100 instantly without me even having to "work a deal."

What I believe they do is, offer an item, such as the aforementioned TAG at a high price, and either make lots of money off of the sale to an uninformed shopper or give you the "deal of the century" (a term a sales guy actually used with me) when they lower it to what it should sell for...either way, they come out ahead if you buy.

I know of a local gentlemen's club that offers a "deal of the century."

Way to raise the bar in class for music sales guitar center.

Guitarzruletwo(Brian) spotted this older headstock Anderson a couple weeks ago at the San Jose GC. ( We work ~ 4 miles from this GC) and told me to check it out if driving by. Hes a big fan of thin necks but said this one was even MORE thin to his liking.

I stopped by there during my lunch hour today to check it out and its in pretty good condition and the neck is way thin! The purple flame maple slab body is nice but also quite heavy!

Serial # is 09-11-93P

That one was inthe San Francisco store. The neck is quite thin. When I saw it, it was tagged at $2,499. Looney tunes pricing at GC.

[QUOTE=SonicGator] The Atlanta GC on Druid Hills Rd

That really jogged the memory banks! I used to live in some apartments on Druid Hills Rd when I attended The Music Business Institute on Peachtree!
Back in '87 of course, is the Cinema and Drafthouse still there?
We used to go to Atlanta Discount Music on Buford Highway near the airport.
(I heard they were an Andy dealer?) I really miss A-Town!

Nice one for sale
Hollow Classic 01-07-97A $1700
Metallic burgundy
I love and hate this-it makes you look at all of your gear and say, "Geez, what can I sell to buy this?"
It takes 3 days, or the axe to sell, before it goes away.
At least with a TAG you never really regret the purchase,
because they ALL ROCK!

This is a cool guitar. In addition to the lack of locking nut /
floyd combination and paper thin neck, I was surprised to see the older headstock on a 1993 model. I thought those headstocks were phased out around 1990 / 1991. Is this a one off?
