Half the guys here seem to occasionally post on The Gear Page.

I occasionally post on thegearpage but thats usually only when the main forum I go to www.jdbluesville.com/forum is down. Jdbluesville forums are my home base lots of great guys and good info. No BS either. "mister t" is the admin at that site... he is known as "Archer" on that particular forum.

Other than here, Z-Talk (Dr. Z Forum) and TGP. TGP is good for updates on what's happening in the music world, though you don't want to start a John Mayer thread over there :D

Z-Talk, like here, is just a great bunch of folks that enjoy great gear.

I do too. He's bringing a new audience to the Blues and is very talented. Over at TGP, any John Mayer thread turns into a 15 page "he sucks worser..." type deal.

Speaking of John - his ex-girlfriend (before he became famous) was the singer in my band for a couple years..........sorry....true story.....I visit the TGP forum but would never post it there !!

That's more like what you'd read on Harmony Central. The Gear Page regulars are a little more literate than that. ;)

On TGP they complain because they don't like his tone. On HC they complain because he doesn't bring on enough of 'teH brO07a15'.

Here we just complain because he's not using a TAG. j/k :D

I've always liked Johns playing even though he is a bit popish for my taste.

One cool thing about John is that he has a sense of humour.

Check out this clip from Chappelle's show....

i just got off the phone with john, so i must jump in and say knock off any suhr bashing, or any bashing at all. i truly believe that some of the guitars being made today are the best ever made and part of the reason is that there is a community inside the guitar building world that talks to each other and helps each other to make better stuff. john is as nice a guy as you'll ever meet, and it's a shame he gets dragged into junk on tgp. yes we all have our own take on what is best, but i think we all know that best for me may not be best for you. i have never met a guitar builder that i couldn't learn something from. so lets enjoy what we like and allow others to do the same.

I have more respect for Tom and his company right now than I have ever had for any guitar maker.

I like Suhr products, amazing quality stuff. I have a few of his pickups right now and they are fantastic.

I will own one of his guitars one day.

I took it that these guys were being sarcastic, like "how dare they like Suhr guitars", recognizing that John makes great stuff. At least, that's how I read it. A lot of Anderson fans/players also like/play Suhrs. Both great guys and great instruments IMO.

Signed.

You can tell i'm being sarcastic by the nice green smiley face at the end of my comment. I certainly can't speak for everyone else on the board. I would love to own a Suhr. If you guys remember not too long ago I made a thread about the Pro Series cause I have never played one and wanted some opinions. I think they would make a nice guitar for gigging since they seem more "meat and potatoes" v.s. my drop top which is meat and potatoes + a flashy top.

I would love to play and own a Suhr guitar someday.

I can attest to Funky NOT meaning anything negative to John Suhr. Sarcasm doesnt always translate to the typed word and Funky has a dry sense of humor that can, on occasion, be taken the wrong way.

Not long ago he was looking at buying a Suhr...a nice looking Pro series if memory serves. He veered to Andersons.

Funky is a really good guy.

I'm really sorry for any confusion caused with my original comment, it wasn't meant in any sort of derrogatory way. I have the upmost respect for anybody that builds such high quality instruments. I was just making a sarcastic comment as to the huge number of fans he has on tgp.

tom

i'm probably over sensitive to this and didn't really direct my comment at anyone in particular. there's just so much of that at tgp that i would hate to see it migrate here.

I can definitely see where your coming from tom. some people who buy guitars especially at such a high standard are fiercely loyal to the luthier, the problem at tgp seems to be too many loyal customers in one place at the same time, which ufortunately leads to arguments. I don't think you need to worry about it coming here though as everybody here believes you build the finest guitars in the world so theres nothing to argue over!!! :)

Agreed.

There was a big blow out at TGP a few days ago over some bashing. There seems to be quite a few cork sniffers over there. I think once you get up to the awesome level of quality that master builders like you and John put out it all becomes personal preference. Some people might prefer a TA and some might prefer a Suhr but I don't see any logic in someone saying that one is actually better than the other.

I post a lot at TGP and TDPRI.

I used to post at Birds and Moons but not so much anymore. sort of a semi-self imposed exile. Something happened in a thread there that really bugged me.

Nice to be here though! :)

I agree about all this other foolishness. There's so many great guitars built by so many great builders...there's more than enough room for all of them.

BTW...when I return home after this trip I'll post pics of my "new" TA Cobra.

I agree and so does the guy who made this one,not and an Anderson or a Suhr.
But I do have 6 Andersons! Wanna guess who made this one?

Melancon or a Grosh The lower cutaway is a little more pointy. What do I win?

I visit the fenderforum (FDP) quite a bit and have run 3 FDP jams at my place. Lots of great people there with strict and fair mods. No flame wars.

TGP is has much more traffic and there is always a useful thread in the works. TGP may be a little rougher, but I have seen far worse in other forums. A ski mountain site I visit actually had members calling each other out for a fight at the mountain. SHEEESSHHH!
Boogie Board, Bogner, Suhr and DrZ are all good spots for getting help, knowledge or just some chill time to talk about gear and stuff.

wish i'd have had time to see gerrard when i went to new orleans. he's a great guy and i love to hear him talk. and i'll eat anything cajun. one of the swamp guides was very skeptical about eating pizza. "don't know what yer gettin. with a possum or other critter you shoot, you know what you got". but my wife does not appreciate work stuff on vacations. we were there 2 weeks before katrina.

I spent some time at the Melancon booth at last years NAMM. He had some beauties there to demo through a kicking Goodsell amp.
Maybe the amp was loaded with Ragin' Cajun's?!?!?!?!
