Tom and forum,

Is this an Anderson era Schecter? Any information on the guitar would be helpful. Here's a link.

This is all they say about it: "Sperzel Tuners, Skull Knobs, Pickguard Signed by the Hellecasters, 7.70 lbs."

Cheers

There's nothing about that guitar that really says 'Anderson'. It looks like a fairly recent guitar - not something that survived the 80s. Not that any of this couldn't have been done by someone during the 80s, but things like the stripe down the back of the neck, the single strap end pin and the pickups don't look like things Tom is known for.

all the schecter necks from the time i was there had skunk stripes, even the rosewood fingerboard ones., but that doesn't have any indicators that it is anywhere near that old.

The completed guitar might be, but the neck is definitely not recent. Schecter stopped making aftermarket replacement parts and using Fender headstocks about 15 years ago. The skunk stripe is absolutely a Tom/Schecter thing. The body could be anything, but even if it were Tom-era Schecter, it wouldn't have two strap buttons on the bottom because it was shipped as a raw replacement part. I would bet the neck is early-90s Schecter, which is very good quality. The body is anyone's guess, at least from those pictures (the rear photo won't load for me). A glance inside the neck pocket would be more informative, I'm sure. If both parts are determined to be USA-made Schecter parts and you like the way the guitar looks, plays and sounds, then $500 seems like a no-brainer.

I asked the guys at Wildwood Guitars to get me pictures of the neck pocket and the back of the pickguard / pick-ups.

Their reply was
Hi, we think the pickups are Duncans, it’s a US made neck but we have no idea what the body is. I’m not sure if you accessed the larger pics of it by clicking just to the right of the center pic, some large file pics in there. Our webguy is just too slammed to take extra pics if this one. Thanks - Bruce

i checked this one out a few days ago. Seems like a good price and Chasyboy on here has a Schectercaster that is amazing (after some work).

So you were in the shop and played the tele? I see you are from CA and thought Wildwoods was in CO. If you did, please tell me more of your thoughts. If I buy it and don't like the neck pickup I may route it and put in a M1.

I too have a SchecterCaster that I love and a lot of people love the old Schecter necks (I'm sure was due to Tom's influence). See my old thread.

One day I will own a TAG but right now they are out of my price range and this could be a nice low price addition to the collection.

no, I was checking it out online. It looked cool but I'd be afraid to buy it without playing it. Lemme know how it is if you get it
