Lately I have been noticing alot of "unorthodox" combinations of woods on available brand new TA's. For example...traditionaly alder bodied instruments are paired with rosewood boards and conversely, ash is mated with maple boards.
There are quite a few examples around lately that combine alder with maple and ash with rosewood. Has there been a reconsideration of the traditional approach at TA? Of course I am speaking primarily about Classics and T's.
Thoughts?

I would think they are just building what the customers specced out for themselves . Maybe people are pushing the boundry a little . I know most guitar players are pretty traditional when selecting instruments but maybe people are straying away from the tried and trusted combinations

we do build to customers specs, but i don't think the combinations have changed much. it's always been about 1/4-1/3 maple necks. maple necks may be on the rise a bit lately. alder with a maple neck is my favorite for classic style guitars.
