Here are the ingredients at my disposal...

• a Seymour Duncan Screamin' Demon Bridge Humbucker
• a Dimarzio PAF (DP103) Humbucker
• a stock Alnico Fender Bridge Humbucker from a Highway 1 HSS strat
• Neck and Middle American standard single coils
• Anderson M3
• Anderson M1

Question #1:
So if you were cooking a strat, what pickup ingredients would you use?

Question #2:
switching options?

what strat will these be going into?

maybe i'm weird, but i really like single coils in all positions (yep, bridge too!) of my strats.

having said that, i'd take the american singles for neck and middle, and the dimarzio paf for the bridge. i'd wire it up with a 5-way like this:

1. neck
2. neck/middle
3. neck/bridge
4. middle/bridge
5. bridge

i never use the middle pickup by itself. i'd maybe add a pull switch or mini-toggle to split the bridge, too.

I'd do the same thing olectric said except add a blower switch as the only way to get the bridge in humbucking mode, and it would be by itself. I always split the bridge when combined with other pickups, and having position 5/non-blower be split is really useful too.

interesting.

The strat is a beat up old frankenstrat, but it's been around for months (which is like a lifetime for me). I found some M's at a good price on TGP and now realize that I have a surplus of pickups laying around. It seemed like the logical progression to start cutting up the Frankestrat and replacing the electronics. You know, on account of how much disposable income I have as a struggling guitar player...:o

Just for fun,

Just two pickups. the Ms.... I think that would be super cool. Nothing but a 3-way. Keep it simple.

Hmmm.... I oughtta make one like that...
